Hostgator.com domain for sale - Am I seeing this right?

Hey guys,

While I was browsing in some Whois sites today and teaching a friend of mine a lesson about domains I stumbled across something quite peculiar. It seems that the Hostgator domain is available for sale on a few places, including the GoDaddy aftermarket and Sedo. Moreover the price for it is quite ridiculous.

Nasty hack? Some global error? Or someone not owning the domain can list it? Fail of the decade or my eyes fooling me?

I think at sedo one can list the domain for sale without verifying the ownership.
It is listed for sale on sedo.

Hmmmm, so nothing unusual. But in this case shouldn't DomainTools take a look at their wording as it clearly says in their whois "The OWNER of the domain you are researching has it listed for sale".
