I have a homepage where H1 (neither any other H tags) are present, only a logo and simple text input. How badly will it impact SERP?

I know that I could use css trick, text-indent and logo as background-image, but I wanna do this properly

If Home page doesn't have the H1 tag there is no heading text in the Home page because it is the header tag highlighting the heading in the home page or any where else.

If you want to target any particular keyword from particular page you should use that keyword in H1 tag because google give importance to H1 tag but keep in mind it should be on on single page.

Using H1 on your webpage is good but it's not compulsory.

I get a laugh out of how people believe that google will bypass a page or site if no h1 tags, etc.
Just what planet do you people come from?

Google could care less if you have one h1 tag or a million on any page or site.

Remember, one does not have to have any h1, h2, h3, blah blah tags.

See the line above, no h tags at all.

So, anyone who would obsess and get their panties tied in a knot because they have or not have an h tag on a psge or post or site?
Poor people!

On the home page, it is good to use h1 tag for the blog title. It generally indicates what your webpage is about and Search engines usually give this tag more weight over other headings. Use of this tag is also good for SEO purpose.

From my understanding H1 is very important. It seems Google uses this almost as much as your Title tag.

One of my blogs is using on home page the title meta, h2 for the articles titles and h1 is used for single article posts title.

Google is showing the same love as before if not more.
