    Yet one more guessitmate...
This was not hard to figure because it has been growing at about 50% YOY

    https://www.prnewswire.com/news-rel...ion-by-2026--at-a-cagr-of-48-7-301346187.html

    To me...
It seems that VR is going to be 'solid' by 2023 and I'm going to guess that the quest2 will still be on the market at a price tag under $200us and mostly responsible for wider growth as we already see that.
And then Apple's VR/mixed/seudoAR device is due.

By that time we should be also expecting a 'real' AR HMD, not a MR device. So that will start laying some groundwork with actual units on heads even if not the best pricing.
I say that knowing Facebook is promising something next year, Apple in 2-3, but I think it will be a little lack luster for the general public for price/performance and what you can do with it overall (higher price, lacking content and more utility). Tough barriers we just seen in VR.

So, watch for those 'buzz words' describing it to develop on social media.

OK... I'll put away the crystal ball before I break it...LOL

Names... I still think it's all about content. And that is a pretty wide field.

I don't know but if I were him I would be too embarrassed to show my fave around here given that he turned down 6 figure offers, dropped one of his most prized VR domains and has the other up for only 20k, chump change compared to what he claimed the domain was worth 4 years ago. It appears that he sold VRSex dot com but didn't report the sale...Oh gee gosh... I wonder why?? I mean I think it's normal not to report, but a guy like him not reporting is interesting. The VR thread is a perfect example of how this site is like /WallStreetB*ts for domainers lol...

So he's still around? 20k is a good sale... But a drop in the bucket compared to what he was boasting about. Reality will God smack your prices down with time...that is for sure...

    Not reality, but market forces.

Sometimes price goes up and sometimes it goes down.

The prices never went up to 7 figures and not even 6 figures...

Let's see what the future holds... But if you sell your best for low 5 figures you're not going to get that 6 - 7 figures if the price rises someday. I don't mean to be a d*ck guys. I just find this kind of thing amusing and an interesting study. Part of the reason I find it funny is because it's kind of a reflection of how I was also about a couple of niches years ago... Either way he probably made back his 75k in expenses he claimed he needed to break even. Which would be great...I hope he made it!

I will not speculate much on pricing anymore.

1st you have supply of likely names for a particular target (many-few)
2nd then you have competition for the number of folks playing that space 'at the same time'... or not

3rd...But the unknown angle that throws any formula away is how bad someone just wants that name to fit what they are doing no matter a return value.

So it is always unpredictable to some extent. But you should have a ball park figure in your head
correct or not to work from forgetting the 3rd. Playing that hunch could land you lower.
More often than not, you get one good chance to make a high roi. Unless you have a category killer.

A good sale is a good sale no matter if I think it was worth more or less. It's all about the roi and the time it takes to achieve it. If you are a mouse, never loose sight of the cheese.

I'm not a fortune teller but it would not surprise me if prices to go back up after 3 - 4 years, but I doubt before then. Let's see! Exciting times we live in!

I would be curious to know why anyone thinks prices are down.

80% of sales are NDA... nobody has any gauge anymore. It's not the same game it was even 8 years ago.

Where NDA is not requested and the sale is over 5k, I require them
I have my own private reasons for that. I would not be alone.

I agree the prices may not have gone down but it would seem that way when the hype has worn down and the braggers are dropping their 6 and 7 figure expectations to settle for modest low 5 figure sales. That's a change in market perception more than anything.

Hey guys, how you all doing?

Curious about keywords 'SR' for simulated reality. I got some and that are expiring and wasn't sure if they're worth it.

Gee Wiz Flip... I thought you were gone forever.
Glad to see ya still in the game, but I know nothing about 'sr'
Like many of those we have seen, I think it is pot luck if it would ever come to folks tongue and search habits.

Heh, nah man, been doing other stuff while waiting for all my domains to hopefully get some value. I have sold a few non-VR domains over the years though lol.

I'm working with AI and Machine Learning these days, making bots etc.

    I lurk sometimes though ;)

Perhaps you may want to think on reported sales a bit more and blame the seller ? They decide the price.
That has happened before in the VR thread about 7 years ago. Kinda the same argument.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not picking, just trying to broaden your thinking.
Nearly impossible to know what is really happening anymore.

I never pick on a seller who has bills to pay/kids to feed for selling at less than expected prices.
I have been there myself. We all do what we gotta do.

Heh..no need to remind me to be considerate like in 5 years old buddy. I've already said "no judgment as I don't know his story" in the VR thread. I also said that I hope that he made his 75k back that he invested in VR names. Never picked in anyone buddy. Just sharing my balanced variety of thoughts like everyone else around here, if that's OK with you....??

Sure, I agree, as it was what I was doing.
    No need to take offense.

BTW... I use to use high asking prices to keep from being bothered by offers while it was to early in the market as I really had no interest to sell until a value could be formulated. But we have domain privacy now.
Forces some to a legit offer via selling platforms.

Just the 'Adult VR entertainment one'. It still gets plenty of traffic but not many new affiliate sign-ups because the videos can be found for free now. When I first put it up 2016 it was a money machine, I still make good monthly residuals from all the sign ups over the years so still very worth it. Just not making the same money as before, but that's ok.
