.tv Hitched.tv and interesting real world .TV stats

One of my advertisers is having problems logging into our site.

His email is hitched.tv. I told him "love that domain, love the .tv. Don't love that you can't login....from your MAC!". MAC the official machine of videographers worldwide. Every time we have a login problem, it is some videographer on his MAC. My college taught computer science using MACs and that machine has haunted me ever since 68000 Assembly Language.

so I was curious, how many pros have a .TV. Of the 27,563 wedding professionals on our site, 28 are using .tv domains. Hey its a start.

1173 are using .net, 100 .us, and 0 .mobi. The rest are .com or no web site.

I was happy with the 28, until I pulled the other stats.

MOBI was a goose egg! I'm going to post that on the MOBI board.

you do realize .mobi has only been open to public reg. for 4 months .. right?

i would also expect/hope that the .tvs increase .. i mean it makes perfect sense for this group!

I did realize that, but I'm not a big believer in the MOBI domain (right now).

The mobile device may one day catch on, but considering how hard it is to type letters into most portable devices, the concept of a 4th character to pull up the site really irks me.

Long term, I see mobile users going to the .COM and then based on the browser mobile versions of the site appear (vs web versions) instead of typing in XXX.MOBI.

I'm sure the MOBI types look at us and go "I don't get .TV" .MOBI, great in concept, not convinced the thing will take off. In fact, I lost LocalExperts.MOBI to Travelocity, so I should revist this prejudice.

we can't be both?? ... i see a bright future for both extensions ... each one carving out it's own niche of the internet!

I completely agree localexperts (and i've said it before on this forum). WHY IS .MOBI A 4 CHAR EXT!?!?!... it makes no sense to me.

.MOBI? How about .MD like mine....

Since we are chattin about the .MOBI extension and how everyone agrees that it should have been shorter, I would like to suggest the .MD extension for mobile devices...

I know, the .MD extension is pricey and is primarily for the Healthcare industry.

But... the .MD extension could be used if society embraced it as a multifaceted extension.... Healthcare / Mobile Devices

Just a thought....
