.tv .TV overtaking other extensions.

If one searches Google for indexed sites with a particular TLD, it is apparent that .TV is catching up, and fast.

Today's "site:.(tld)" search yielded these results:

.biz = 21 million sites
.tv = 18 million sites
.cc = 8 million sites
.mobi = 4 million sites
.name = 2.3 million sites

A few months ago, .tv was lagging behind by a wide margin. Now it looks like the total number of .tv sites will pass .biz very soon.

Great News, i would expect .tv's stats to jump greatly in the next few months as more & more me.tv sites get indexed and a lot of the .tv's that are in development get completed.

Wow! Awesome graph. I'm going to share this at 7mile and see if Frank makes any comments. He once labeled .tv as a "novelty extension" in his blog, but if we can keep informing him of the trends and he says 1 positive thing about .tv then it potentially could explode among domain investors.

The Google numbers show just the number of active .tv sites on the web.

There must be millions more that have been registered, and are waiting for development or are parked - so I can assume that you could easily add a couple more million to the .tv figure.

If Myspace will use the .tv extension for Myspace Television, then it would be a perfect time to open a bottle of Champagne

although it would surprise me if a well settled .com company will use the .tv extension, but if they do, it would have a great impact.

There is evidence that this transition has already started. Go to MYSPACE.TV and browse the site, then go to MYSPACETV.COM and browse the site.

Also, notice the logo on the right with the apparent TV extension?

nice news.. .mobi is a very small window imo.. futurists have already show how the mobile network is going.. basically you will talk via you jewellery or even now they have a working model of an inbuilt "cyborg" inplant in the hand.... Technical advancements will make mobi worthless, but good ole TV will be there for eternity.. however you look at TV, we will be visually looking at a video display of some sort for ever... Im glad I only have 1 .mobi.

It is impressive but just as impressive is the .biz #s. I wouldn't have guessed that high of a number.
