Hello, I am patiently trying to make my first sell. I have parked my names on Sedo and waited. I have garnered some interest, but nothing has stuck. When should someone consider hiring a domain broker? I mean would the rep of the broker help with selling my domains? What is the usual percentage that you pay them? Thank you to everyone who has patiently answered my questions. I really want this to be a new venture in my life...

Brokering domains is a "tricky" thing. The truth is, unless your domain is high caliber, and going to fetch high dollars, its not really worth a brokers time to sell...

However... In the event you opted to try to sell a quality domain name, and wanted to use a broker. If the broker is worth his weight in salt, he will handle the transaction completely, Negotiate on your behalf, and in all honesty, take a fair chunk of the value. I personally wouldnt bother brokering a deal for less than 20% of a 5k+ deal.

But, Brokers do have solid contacts, and the ability to truely focus on potential markets... What are the domain names you are looking to sell?

I think domainspade said it all. I work from the other end as a broker for the buyer who doesn't have the time or talent to pursue a high quality name.

But, a word of advice, you are your best broker. Unless the domain is getting lots of traffic and/or an obvious high quality name, you are going to have to be pro-active to find a buyer.
