The natural spelling is obviously "hybrid", but I recently checked as many variations as possible and hibrid seems like the most common alternative spelling. In addition a hyphen added after hy/hi seems to be very common. I was dumbfounded when I saw that hi-brid.com was available. Perhaps it deleted recently and no one caught it on a deleting list. I also noticed that both hi-brid.net and hi-brid.org are already taken. The domain was first regd in 2002 and was used through 2007.

I feel like this is a definite GEM... where would you price this one.

I'm thinking $XX,XXX or at least high $X,XXX

Am I off base?

does it get any traffic? thats the key. It's two mistakes off from being correct. Would need tons of traffic to even begin to think of those numbers in my opinion. Enough traffic that you could test it in one day.

What really holds this back is that people have seen Hybrid on tv enough to know its not "Hi" like your waving at someone. Then ad the kicker of how infrequently people type in "-" in there browser. SEO benifits, i dont think so.

Best value is selling it to a regular guy that wants a hybrid name real bad and desnt care about the mistakes

There is a Srixon Hi-Brid - Golf Glove, might look into that, good luck

yeah this is trademark for golfing at least

Market potential

Thanks for the input... I would agree that type-in traffic would not be at the level where you could retire any time soon. I think the value is in the marketability of the name. Current and future variations are limited. I have a hard time coming up with many variables. My thinking...

hybrid
68.7M google frequency $6.70 PPC bid .com, .net, .org, .info, .tv, .us GONE

hibrid
873K google frequency $.95 PPC bid .com, .net, .org, .info, .tv GONE

hybred
117K google frequency $2.23 PPC bid .com, .net, .org, .info

hi-brid
1.97M google results and a current $.20 PPC bid .com, .net, .org GONE

With so many current hi-brid results on google and a current .20 PPC bid and the next best available domain being ccTLD or .info... surely there must be value here. If not now... perhaps in another year or two. Let's remember what is going on in the world today. How about this evaluation:

today = $XXX
1year = $X,XXX
5years = $XX,XXX

Agree or disagree?

Reg Fee... you have to put in the quotes when you're doing google searches with dash... "hi-brid" 69,000 which is nothing...

Only real opportunity...

So, the only real opportunity is a hybrid company looking to brand themselves as "hi-brid". Or doing my own development and mailing newsletter with relevant affiliate advertising. Or, should I let this one go back to the grave, from whence it came?

plus there is all those golf "hi-brid" results, its not all 69k mispells of hybrid.

the trademark aside i would put up a fast and easy website and just let it perculate for a couple of years, if your so inclined to domain this way

Sorry, I see this name as reg-fee, the incorrect spelling hurts this name, but not as much as the hyphen, these are 2 "big" weaknesses IMO

unless someone brands it really well, I dont see any value

Good luck though

Develop or send to grave...

Sounds like the concensus is to develop or send to the grave. I think it's worth hanging onto for the next few years... with the current market trends I believe there may be a serious bidder who is looking for a marketable opportunity and few options currently available. I'll let you know how I do with it. Should have a mini site up this week.

Thank you all for your valued opinions.

Here's one more vote to send this to the grave.

A hyphen in the middle of a misspelled word (not between two words) equals a global warming disaster. Send this back to the recycling center and help cleanup the Internet environment.

Zero. IMO.

Good luck regardless of which direction your choose....

--> .net and .org are not developed yet!

only 16 "type in" traffic, but I think this has development opportunity.

Congratulations!At least your domain is already priced in $xx range. It proves hybrid stuff is gaining momentum. Would be interesting to know what non-hybrid stuff is worth, as I own NonHybrid.com :)

Advice... wait until there are SERIOUS problems with an environment that is TOO clean, and people are looking for ways to hurt the environment. I'm sure an offer will come in shortly after. GL
