Helpful advice needed Please, Sent to auction after legal Blah
Hi Guys Ive spent a bit of time lurking but a newbie on here & i wonder if some kind wise old hands could give some advice, im asking for on behalf of a friend.
He owns a 4 letter name .asia - he used to spend a lot of time in se asia & planned to develop at a later date. (ok i know they dont go for megabucks) But an eu based company of the same 4 letter name contacted him (or more likely their web developers) wanting to buy it & they seemed very very keen. I advised him to not rush proceedings, it was parked on sedo at the time & he quoted a not totally unrealistic but maybe on the high side figure, they quickly countered with their 'final offer' & made noises about WIPO & UDRP.
I strongly doubt they have a case (the name is a common one) & while the company may be big in their field they are not a coca cola or sony & we both had never heard of them (although my wife had) Many other extensions are also owned by different parties. Anyhow he decided he couldnt be bothered with the grief, hes had a pretty lousy time lately & upset with their tone has decided to send to auction.
He wouldnt have done this if they had behaved in a more cordial fashion & to be perfectly honest wasnt even bothered about selling, hes a very principled guy & had a figure in mind but felt pressured.
I have now noticed a biggish company down under using the same name & wonder if on his behalf i can make them & perhaps others aware of the auction in the hope he may get a better price? He certainly wouldnt condone such practices if the original company had behaved better & dont get me wrong the price offered is not bad, It's just that he really is a great lad, who deserves a break & i would love to try & get him a better deal if possible?
I understand .asia is hard to predict at the moment & while some say it may go to 5 figures in the future others are more cautious in their appraisal.
apologies for the long winded post & if i have said anything out of turn.
Many Thanks in advance for any replys
