Help with niche

I beleive I've found a good niche to develop a website in but have some questions. Many of the top ranking sites were sites like "MyProtein.com" and "amazon.com" who sold/had a post about the niche/product I want to develop into a product, will I be able to out rank these big sites? I used Long Tail Pro for keyword research and the keyword had a low KC and high monthly searches so it seemed like a good niche but the top ranking sites were large sites like amazon. Should I go through with this niche?

It's very hard to outrank heavy hitters.. go with low competition first, you can rank it quickly and generate organic traffic with the right keywords.

Yes you can outrank them but depends on the keyword/s.

These days social media plays a big part, # your longtails and get people to your site that way, if they are happy with what they read perhaps they will buy?
