Hello! I am a new domainer who has had early success with the geodomain niche. I'd like to continue geo growth in my portfolio. My question is: Which is more valuable, a full length location name + keyword or the abbreviation of the location + keyword?

For instance, which would be more preferable (random examples):

www. californiaspaceships .com

-or-

www. caspaceships .com

I understand that length plays a role in domains. How does it effect the domain in this regard?

Thanks so much! I look forward to your responses.

@Arpit131 could throw some light based on his experience with GEOs?

For me in particular, the first one where the complete geographical name is used, works better.
Not so much on the shorter form.

So, I believe the complete name works. It has more probability of selling.
For example, I highly target Las Vegas with different niches. What seems to work so far is "Las Vegas + Keyword" instead of "Vegas + keyword"

That's how it has turned out for me. If there are people who have done better with shorter names, pls share your views as well.

@Arpit131 Thanks for the response. Do you believe in your experience that the authority of 'Las Vegas' outweighs 'Nevada'? Your expertise is appreciated!

early success with the geodomain niche

Although I am a fan of geo (couple hundred) I can say from my experience that sometimes the buyers have little or no logic in their minds. I've had large market names with tons of organic traffic that were worth 2 to 4k easily yet offers came in at 2 to 4 hundred. Just to weed out all the tire kickers I have all geo names at a minimum offer price of 500. City first, then category...but be prepared to sit on them for a reg cycle or two in addition to the initial year registration.

edit: I just went back and looked over the last year and my biggest geo sale was category then city...man this biz is cray cray!

Yes I believe that in many aspects! Unless the niche is something exclusive to Nevada.

Hi Artyfact I love geo domains pure geos are gold. jsut look at any map if the location is good buiy the .com. also geo + services or #Geo + products are also good. This year Feb we bought VegasCarsales.com already had over 31,000 visitors. Also bought http://lasvegasairporttaxis.com/ its doing good with visitor numbers. its long domain but matches geo targeted location and services.
