Help & Opinions needed: I'm a web design newbie

Im still in high school and im in charge of designing school's website, and i need some opinions.

yeah, the website is not yet complete because im afraid dat whole design need to be changed later;
and my school is going to buy new domain and hosting for the site next year, before that I have to complete the site 1st;

since im a newbie in web design
i need some opinions; please~

First off, that flash load was WAY TOO LONG for any user. Even on my fast RoadRunner Business Class it took a couple minutes! Try to make the size of it smaller. Maybe your server is slow? I have seen sites that have for flash and it loads in a fraction of the time. I would also say that all of your images (swf and website alike) are grainy and very nasty looking. It is also quite a dark layout and a strong statement for a school. I mean it seems as if #1 is all you are targeting. IDK it isn't school-like at all.

yeah, now i noticed that those images are quite grainy, is there anyway to improve the quality of the images? btw i used jpeg images, maybe gif images can give a better quality?

we decided to use the black layout, since we re going to give a teen sensation for visitors! XP , how s the layout look like anyway?

so in overall, is it good or bad? i do really target for the #1 school website in my region

Why are you designing your schools site when you appear to be convinced you're a newbie? I'm just curious.

well thats just because i have some experience in macromedia flash; and thats it, im in charge of the website

Ok cool, so your site is gonna use flash mainly?

The URL works now for me. The flash you use looks nice, but it doesn't really have a school "feel" to it, you know? Also, there's a large contradst between the background and letter colour. Mind you keep the text readable Good luck!

i will try to change to font color to black w/ bright background
but i will still use black as the base color
maybe the base color make it doesnt look school-like

Don't add more flash pages and keep the site more SEO friendly. If you are a newbie, try to learn HTML and CSS and design it well. All the best.

The images might not have been good quality to start. You might have also shrank them at odd intervals or stretched them to a percentage instead of a specific pixel size. That might be the problem right there!

Your site is good considering that u are still in high school. but plz remove those bulky flash. it does not show that the site is of school . it seem like it is of some kind of music bands site. Use light colors and simple layout.

The flash is very good but it takes a long time to load so the visitors may get annoyed waiting too long. Considering it's a school's website the black background doesn't go with it. I think you should opt for a lighter background and a contrasting font color.
