Hi, I want your help to choose a professional name for domaining. Sending a mail from Gmail or my personal domain which goes like me[at]shaan.me I am finding it a bit unprofessional. So, I have been picking domains for this, it will be great if you could help in this matter. The other motive is a blog and also get the backlinks redirected to this domain. I know there are experienced domainers here from your experience what do you suggest on the below names. Deliberately I am not making capital letters because meaning should come on its own.

1. nameinvestor.in
2. nameinvstr.com
3. nameinvstrs.com
4. dninvstr.com
5. dninvstrs.com
6. invstrin.com
7. invstr.in
8. dnp.xyz
9. shaan.me

Thank you in advance
Shaan

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
lol .. I didn't even see that .. but ultimately it only goes to prove my point ...

Simply modify what I wrote above to "just some superficial token message from the founders along with some company messages and stats".

Ultimately "Investor Relations" = not forward client facing = no revenue = so who cares, it doesn't matter.

Not only that .. but again .. Alphabet has such marketing clout that people will follow them anywhere because Google has the free press of literally hundreds of reporters that report anything and could overcome any obstacles like a .xyz domain.

Beyond that .. it's a fun domain hack that makes sense UNIQUE to them.

For anyone else to start what they want to be a serious business on a .xyz is just absurd. It's not even close to being a sane decision. .xyz is total garbage .. sure not all potential end-users might know that or care .. but if you are going to be the end user (as is the case for @Shaan Chopra here), as a domainer, it should be very clear to you that you will lose potential business if you choose a .xyz.

So not many votes but pretty distributed in @Shaan Chopra poll,

Yeah .. .probably because there was no "None of the Above" option. Not including that option ultimately taints the pool itself rendering it somewhat pointless .. as it forces people to vote for the best domain .. which only means the votes in question are for what people felt is the best choice .. which in no way equates to a "good" or "ideal" or "usable" choice.

Ultimately everybody would choose to get shot by a gun .. if the only other choices were getting shot by a bazooka or a nuclear missile.

But yes .. as I mentioned earlier .. I think given all the choices, going with a solid ccTLD is probably the best option here (although my first should would have been to keep looking)

I haven't read this thread except for the 1st post. I think all those names are awful. I wouldn't even buy them for resale. Total garbage. You need to buy a domain rather than register one. Needs to be properly spelled and complete. You can do this before having bought any domain. Just list them out on a piece of paper and choose what you like, and negotiate the price with the seller. Be prepared for crazy pricing and walk away. It's very, very hard work. To get the right domain. And it's important for credibility. Trying to sell domains from a crappy domain isn't going to work. IMHO.

nameinvestor.in sounds awful to you?

OK. Most people say .com or nothing. I say .com or if .com is taken, .co, or lastly ccTLD/NGTLD. For example. I just in the last few minutes picked DomainSales.Digital for regfee. I think it's direct and to the point left of the dot and respectable NGTLD. You just need to decide on what you want in front of the dot and search for what is available. This was available. So I took it.

Most people say .com or nothing.

Nah .. it depends on who your audience and customers are going to be. Ironically people who buy domains aren't experts in domains .. as such you need to stick with simple, well know and understood. In which case .com has a significant advantage over everything else. ccTLDs work if you're ONLY working that particular market. Otherwise I'd actually go with .net over some of the tech-trendy ones like .io or .co (although I'd definitely go with .co over .ai in this context).

I have TONS (50+) of good to solid "domainer" domains .. they aren't impossible to find.

As I was writing that I wanted to say a long third last. And I meant, again failed to say, I'd only go with a ccTLD if your primary business is local. But I assumed that as a domain reseller the business is almost always global because you can't get past the fact that everybody potential wants a .com domain. I actually liked the domain I registered. You can't get much stronger in front of the dot, as a domain reseller. And if you aren't exactly against NGTLD's there are still gems to be had. Estibot reckons the .com is valued at $29,000. So there is plenty of wriggle room.

Some ccTLDs might have interesting branding potential.

DomainSales.xyz is a premium sale by the registry at $2,700 :) That made me feel much better with my registration :)

Well .. I wouldn't have touched that one at any price .. the SLD seems good .. but in my opinion not enough to merit the ngTLD .. however .. it's still way better than DomainSales.xyz would be! ;)
(Sorry @Bob Hawkes .. lol)

I'd list a bunch of mine .. but I'm pretty sure we aren't allowed doing that here? If we are let me know .. lol

@Ategy you can not put it here, but you can just DM me the names you have.

I didn't really mean it in a sales way .. more just to show what sort of domains you can get if you're patient.

But if you or anyone else want a list, PM me your email address .. someone else just asked me as well. I just checked and I actually have well over 100.

40+ over 15 years .. 80+ over 10 years.

I work mon+tues .. so I'll try to have something ready for wed.

Sigh .. I need to get a few of them set up .. I have some absolute gems!

Pick any name and make it your brand.

Ex: Godaddy, Dynadot, Fabulous, etc... has nothing to do with domain name.
Hello, Shaan!
Can not agree more with Johnn.
Just choose some name catchy enough for people to remember :)
If you look for a name investor domain, you can register: quietgodfather dot com :)
It is available now!
Greetings

I think you can further research. You have 'DN' option / acronym ad some adjective. Other option you may use hyphen also and try to find a decent one.

None of these.
If you have spell your company name every time or expect someone to remember it has a weird or quirky spelling, then they won’t remember it.

IMO, use something that is a proper word or words in the dictionary.

Hello Shaan, here are some quick brainstormed suggestions:

NamePick.in
DnPick.in
Shaaninvest.in
investShaan.in
ShaanProfits.in

Why not consider using alliteration? such as:

Coca Cola
Marilyn Marlow

Here are some more ideas:

ShaanSelects
ShaanStocks
ShaanSpeaks
ShaanSupport
ShaanSet
ShaanShares
StrategicShaan
SizzlingShaan (If you are dressed up going on a hot date) :xf.cool:

Using the same letter in 2 words for a brand name can really stick in peoples heads.

You can find a better domain and go for .com, i don't see why you will get stuck with .in when domains are global.

Good luck

my choice would always be .com as would be anyone on here.

It's always going to be about "first impressions" no disrespect to .in but if you are going to "look the part" of a domainer and you want to look "legit" go with something that tells anyone you send emails to that you were "smart enough" to grab a "proper english grammar" .com domain.

I was going to say why not ShaanChopra.com but it seems registered back in December. I hope that was you.

And then you could always go with

shaandomains.com is good too. I sure hope you regged it because seems it was registered just today.

man I hope no domainer here did that to sell it to you. that's just WRONG.

I just found one other that's perfect. pm me if you like.
