I have a domain AmericanBroadband . US and there is a company with the almost same name that has inquired.

I know that it gets typin of about 20 - 50 /mo.
Basically I have been asked "how much"?

Anyway to do some quick looking into how "deep their pockets" are?

Depends on the company...and it also depends how close the name is to their name. It will be a delicate balance because if the names are close and they feel that legal fees in a TM dispute are less expensive they could go that way.

That said, and all dramatics aside, I'd do anything and everything to get them to make an offer.

How can you TM American Broadband...plus I have had this name for a year or two.
However, you hit it on the nail...get them to make an offer. LOL, how do you do that?

Just ask them to make an offer that they feel is reasonable.

If you can TM "Apple" to sell computers, or Wendy's to sell burgers, you can certainly TM American Broadband...

To make them make an offer, say "I am currently checking with some associates (Us!!) regarding the value of this domain, and I've had other inquiries. Did you have a figure in mind?"

Are you dealing with them over the phone, or via email? Are they incorporated or registered? You need more information on this company. Are they public or private? where are they currently, where are their offices located? If you dont do research, your throwing money and time out the door!

Now, given that... this is a .us domain name... I wouldnt scare them away at this point just yet iwth huge dollar bills in your eyes. Do some more research on this company, how vital is this domain to their business? and determine if this is the end-user for this domain... if it is.... work it out.

Have been speaking with them via phone. Their "parent" company is in another state, and I am having a hard time finding that info. Haven't quoted anything but I am thinking that I should contact other companies with similar names and see if there is interest so maybe I can get an auction going on Sedo. This is definatly end-user and they agreed that the .US was a good extention for this domain. :)

If your getting the feeling that they must have this name and your comfortable asking or negotiating for a price, I would recommend it. Or you could have someone broker the domain for you. Consider your options with as much info as you can find.

Considering the lack of additional info, itโ€™s difficult to project a strategic preliminary price range, however, in my experience, Iโ€™ve been able to complete several successful transactions, in similar situations by being direct with the price range I feel is fair. I think this domain, with consideration to the namespace would be ideal for a great number of companies. With that in mind, I wouldnโ€™t think a proposal of $6,500 would be at a level too steep for motivated end user.

Best wishes,
Kimmy

It would'nt surprise me if it's these guys - americanbb.com (seems like they are buying up alot of things going by their website.

I'd hang onto it for a few years until the .us gets much more popular which I beleive it will ....unless.... I was offered 2x,xxx or so for it :hehe:

very nice keywords to have - JMO

Good luck

Nope, not them.
But I did email them and let them know it was available. Also saw that the .com resolved to them.
