Help: Colors to use on a black background.

I am working on a site but I'm stuck with what colors to use with a black background.

I put a placeholder of baby blue and magenta for now but I need to replace these with colors that matches the black background.

to be honest, as you have the site on a white background anyway, most colours will match and look fine.

Maybe echo the black again, with a key colour, such as red, to highlight areaes.

Seriously If I am going to use the black as basis background, I will use gray degrees and never try to put light colours with black on the fly. I could try to use Orange+Black+Dark/Light Gray colours.And avoid the blue, clear white, red, magenta, green.

I would use a light black, light gray and one bold color for example a nice blue, red, green, yellow, orange.

Did you visit the template?

He is using a white background for content, so the blue and magenta should do fine.

On the other hand you cannot use these darker shades (right-hand menu) and lighter shade (top menu highlight) at the same time as them. Maybe blacks and greys to match the background theme.

I like orange on a black background, it's fitting...I think lime green wouldn't be so bad either. Glossy blue, pink...and white.
