I want to sell my domain name. I had it for quite a while.
I never really got started on my website, and lost interest in the domain name. The website never really got off the ground.

I registered it with godaddy.com
I am totally new to this.

Where is the best place to sell it?
Can someone tell how would i go buy transferring the domain name after I sell it.
On average how long does it take someone to get money from a sale? On Godaddy I think I read that it takes a month or something.

Anyhelp?

If I post it here or anywhere else do I risk some happening? (hacker stealing it or something?....i doubt but just want to make sure). :bah:

First of all welcome and consider yourself very lucky to joining NamePros.

The best place for a domainer. :)

Besides setting it for sale at the link weblord gave you, you can also put it to sale in Sedo, they charge a min. fee/procent of sale, but by using them you atleast wont risk getting scammed.

Just by mentioning your domainname will not make it easier for a hacker to steal it. Just use your commonsense and be skeptic of the mails you get.

Back to your question about transfering. :)

If the buyer has an account in GoDaddy, then you can push it for free. Read more at this link:
http://help.godaddy.com/topic/608/article/822

If the buyer doesnt have an account in GoDaddy, and doesnt want it there, you can read how to transfer it to other registrars in this link:
http://help.godaddy.com/topic/609

With payment it depends on your buyer, some are fast and pay within minutes :), some are more lazy and pay after a couple of days, at worst case a few weeks.

Two advices I can give you are:
1. Do NOT transfer your domain BEFORE you have gotten the money!

2. Do NOT pay for any appraisal! If you get an e-mail saying they are interested in your domainname, but you have to get an appraise, then they are trying to scam you.

Good luck and best regards,

My advice would be to READ READ READ like crazy here on NamePros before you start buying any domains.

You want to see what sells, what doesn't, and you want to stay on top of the news in the industry.

If you need any help do not hesitate to ask :D
