Unstoppable Domains โ€” AI Assistant

Hello, Dot Org!

I've been saying it for a few months -- .ORG is back. TheDomains recently covered 1&1's latest report saying .ORG registrations have increased 30% over the past 12 months.

That's great news for .ORG fans like myself! To me, .ORG sends a message of credibility and trust to website visitors. I'm sure you can look around you on TV and the Internet and see all the new .ORG websites, organizations, and campaigns that have been formed lately.

Sure, it's no .COM replacement, but it's a darn good alternative to sites that aren't actually selling something. :imho:

Thoughts?

Steve,

Is 1and1 reporting that THEIR .org registrations are up 30% or that of the registry? Although I'm a .org fan - I question these figures.

Only 1and1 reported this. I don't have any registry data.

Is there a way to obtain this data?

Just read the original report:

"In a report by 1&1 Internet Inc., which says its the worldโ€™s largest web hosting company, said today that it has seen impressive growth in the number of .ORG domain names registered by its customers worldwide."

So, this is only within 1and1. Although I hate to say this - perhaps its done thanks to their own marketing campaigns?

After a transfer gone wrong with 1&1, I've basically blocked them out of my mind. Did they have a .ORG promotion or something that would cause this?

I totally agree about the credibility/good alternatives with .orgs. I just bought out the last XXco.org's and I am very happy with them. They are a bargain especially when .com's are becoming sooo expensive (rightfully so of course). ALso .orgs just have a good vibe about them IMO and are people friendly (easy to remember /the public likes and accepts them)

That's cool Buck I bought out all the XXtv.org all get traffic and certainly worthwhile at $7 reg fee.

I like loan names in org too, and picked up CopyrightInformation.org for $10 which I think is more authoritative with the .org over even the .com

I :hearts: .ORG. It is easily one of the best investments out there and is sometimes better than the .COM equivalent.

.org superior

In the area of Green, or Clean...the org will have far greater value than a .com as the public would like to have the perception that a .org is some type of humanitarian or earth-centric group, as opposed to a GreenEnergy.com (apologies to whomever owns this, just stating fact, here), that the .com will label as a commercial entity.

Interestingly enough, a .com Solar will NOT be viewed in the same light inasmuch as solar power has been around so long and people understand that utility companies are all about profit whether it be gas, electric or...solar.

So, if Green or Clean be a .org. Also, don't hesitate to have headquarters in the name or HQ, as I have done because these names denote a centrality, as the textbook definition of HQ is know by most to be, " the center of operations and administration of a critically important organization or force. "

For example: Green EnergyHQ.org gives a substantial sounding presence.
