I am trying to set up a godaddy email account for my domain: InjuryLaw*info however i get a message a few minutes later saying "errr: Status: 5.5.0" due to something about smtp...

I want it set up so that when it is marketed people can see that it is actually mine rather than being a scam through hotmail...

Can someone talk me through it in laymans terms please? :)

SMTP is the mail xfer protocol, Can you post the entire message? And what are you doing that triggers it? (Sending mail to the account? From the account? )

Hmmm ... strange ...

Can you go into Godaddy webmail and send a message to your hotmail account? And can you connect to the mailbox from a POP3 client?

Another idea - if this is the first email you're setting up for the domain there may have been no DNS MX record configured previously. MX (Mail eXchanger) tells the world what mailserver handles messages for the domain. Possibly that the DNS update hadn't propogated when you sent the message - if that's the case it may be working now.

If you can't send from the account or connect with POP or if you're still having trouble w/incoming mail today, may be time to grit your teeth and contact GD.
