Hi everyone.
Yesterday I purchased two domains from Whois, I received notification by email that both names had been registered and receipts for payment.
Many hours later I have received emails stating that: Reason for Failure: null : Parameter value policy error
I am currently on live chat with them and it is being escalated to their product development team as it is I quote
This seems to be an internal issue.
I have now been told that I have to raise a ticket.
I had a brief look on the Icann site just copy and pasted: Parameter value policy error, and it came back with codes.
Whois in their email never provided any codes is this relevant.
I feel like I have been robbed, I know the domains were for sale as I checked on other registrars but went with whois because of price.
Is this normal practice.
Any advice would be greatly valued.
Thanks
Jason

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

So are the names still available to hand reg?

If they are registered, does your name show up in the whois information?

It can happen and it happens. If you really want the domains, try to register them via different registrar. It usually helps - where 1 registrar can have some technical problem, other registrar can run very smoothly.

That's weird. Sounds internal.

I prefer to pay $10 standard dot com price for a domain name as I can't be bothered wasting time trying to save a buck here or there and then waste even more time transferring names out of accounts as the terms of why the offer was initially cheap become abundantly clear etc

I do use whois to check the domains I buy etc but never bought a name from them

I never compromise service for price because if a domain isn't worth paying £10 for is it worth buying in the first place

Well, that's your opinion and who am I to doubt it as you are a much more experienced Domainer than me.
The problem still remains though that I had confirmation these names had been registered and Ipresumee whether it's Godaddy or Whois there are a set of rules to follow.
Thanks for your input.

Any update from support?

whois have the logs & can determine what exactly happened

You can either
1. wait for them to resolve the issue, I do not believe you were robbed, glitches do happen, unfortunately its affecting you in this instance
There is a risk with this option, someone can register the name(s) with another registrar, like you mentioned the names are available at Godaddy.

or
2. request refund and move on
Register the name(s) with a different registrar

Hope the issue gets resolved & you get the names. Good luck

if no just go to an other registrar and register them there. ---> happy ending

if yes look up whois to check the registration date. (gwhois.org)

if it is after you had registered them you have a reason to be angry --->complain, if not you would not have had a chance to own these anyway. --->forget about it

If the domains appear not registered in whois and are still available etc by registering them elsewhere etc you would pay more but you would have them and then whois would probably contact you about it later which is a better scenario than leaving them unregistered in whois because not much can be done if someone registers them because they appeared available to register and as such were successfully registered to another person

As a rule I never mention a domain I have purchased until I have checked that my details appear in the whois as successfully registered to me

It might be worth paying $100 to register a name, but the sensible businessman will still prefer to pay $8.50 rather than $10 to register it. :)

Just to keep you all updated, it's still internal as of 05.08 am GMT :xf.sick:

The plot thickens yet further, I have received a reply from whois.com regarding the new gTLD I purchased, got confirmation of registration, then the following day received notice that the purchase had been canceled.
After a week whois.com admitted that there was a "GLITCH" in their system and that the Domain was actually a Premium Domain and should not have been sold.
I obviously knew this that's why I fell off my mushroom when I saw it for sale for something like $3, hence the purchase.
Now I know people are going to say that's what happens when you don't use a good registrar !, the problem with that is that the owner of whois.com is a gentleman by the name of TK.Wong as far as I know. This man is a major player in the internet world.
I contacted the gTLD owners, Famous Four Media I think & also nic.racing who manage the Tld.
Their response was that it was down to the registrar and not them, this I will have to trawl through ICANN regulations to see if this is so.
So while on my Mushroom yesterday I was trawling the internet looking for names as you do if you are as successful as me with over 120 domains and Zero sales thinking to myself, BUY MORE !!.
Anyway I stumbled across BIGROCK.COM , this domain is owned by the Billionaire fella, so just for fun I typed in the Domain that had been pulled by whois.com.
Bang, still for sale $3, sold to the worst Domainer in history, payment sent to PDR Solutions LLC, so I have yet to receive confirmation of the registration but have just got off of Live chat with BIGROCK who have said they will initiate the registration from their Backend, I'm just hoping it doesn't go Internal like it did with whois.com .
I have opened a dispute with Paypal. Who's responsibility is it to make sure Domains are advertised for sale are actually for sale? I would imagine Four Horse Media & nic.racing are doing back flips, after all despite telling me it was a premium Domain they still allowed it to be sold for $3. PDR Solutions LLC accepted payment.
Surely I have a case?
Any suggestions please feel free.
I love Domaining, I'm just no good at it, like so many other things in my life! :xf.wink:
All the best to all, hope you had a good holiday?
Jay.
