Have French/German.coms any value?

Just wondered if you guys have any knowledge or experrience of selling foreign .com tlds? In particular french and german one word product or service related words? Are they worth regging if you find them?

I too have asked this question before & have a decent german dictionary word that is short.

I wish there was an easier way to network with german webmasters / domainers for these reasons.

I think one of the biggest problems in selling these sort of names is not being able to speak the language.

Personally I would have no problem registering a few & sitting on them, but would not go overboard as this would be long term.

I also would prefer the .com in most cases.

French domains in .com: valuable (often more than the .fr counterpart, .fr has restrictions and is limited to France)
German domains in .com: don't seem so sought after in my experience. But a good combo should still be worth something

In most cases, I would prefer the .com to the .eu. But obviously, if you target either France or Germany specifically, .fr or .de are excellent options. Com remains however a good option in all cases.

.Com is way better than .eu. .Eu is borderline junk. German and French .com domains have to be really strong to be worth registering. Marginal stuff is worthless. You need to buy them in aftermarket pretty much.

Definately .com!

.com is king & always will be. .eu is a piece of crap & always will be IMO

You'd be way better off registering a .fr for France or a .de for German than a .eu

I sold a French/German keyword in .com for $x,xxx - there is a market for them, they just need to be the right keyword.

.com is most definitely second to .de in Germany and it looks like .fr is starting to gain in potential sales- see this weeks DNJ.

So, .de before .com - .com before .fr (atm) - .eu - hmmm! IM-HO.com

I agree with you that they should be an easier way to network with other domainers who speak the language. using german or french dictionary as a guide to register .de or .fr can be very very tricky if you don't speak the languages especially .de .

Others have already said it but in my experience it is more difficult to sell the .com name in Germany as they definitely prefer the .de.

Cant speak for France as I have no experience but I have had some good experiences with the Netherlands where Dutch word .com's appear to be wanted.
