It's freaking me out...I can not stop staring at it...does this mean the end is near?

I believe it is a countdown to April Fools... I wonder what they are planning :)

I'm guessing it's a timer to change our password.

The current consensus is that forcing password expiration based on a timer is bad for security. This is reflected in the current revision of NIST SP 800-63B section 5.1.1.2. We may force your password to expire if we suspect your account may have been compromised, however.

Note that 5.1.1.2 also recommends against most password complexity requirements, but we added some very basic complexity requirements to combat naïve credential stuffing attacks.

As long as you stay unclear about the timer, you will cause all kinds of reactions.

I know I’m ruining the joke by explaining it, but I was intentionally responding with an excessive air of seriousness. ;)

Fun fact of the day: NamePros returns 418 in response to especially dodgy requests. Don’t go searching for it unless you want to land on the naughty list, though.

You're quite right about that. However, I did not interpret the posting from @BradWilson as an advice to do so.

I guess the timer is meant to be funny. NamePros is trying to be funny, reactions will be funny.

Just changed NP password today, so when timer ends, I'll need to re-change password again?

Good question. Generally, if it's a strong password and you're not using that password on other sites too, you're probably doing great (even if the namePros counter gets into negative territory, but then we all have a problem, I guess).

It's going to take me years to get through my pandemic stash of beans and spam :spam:

Australians need some good spam, @CraigD

So looking forward to April 1st (y)

@Mister Funsky - I totally agree. It's not for the faint-hearted. Make sure you buy some cheap canned food and/or shelter domain names in the marketplace section on namePros. This will help you get through the coming weeks when the green counter is (slowly) ticking to 0.

LOL...it reminds me of Y2K and the cases of beans I had stored under my bed...it took me almost 5 years to eat them all...:xf.laugh:

I just loved the old np theme. Hope they keep it. Go oldschool, go retro. We love it!

I have seen that now you require also a symbol on the password to increase the password security. After the password issue I have reset mine and I have noticed that measure, well done. (y)

Fair enough.

Maybe it's wise to consult RFC 2324 before posting anything on this fine forum.

For all of us :xf.wink:
