Very happy today I wrote an enduser and against better advise i mentioned my asking price after a while I got a reply asking to bring it down a little and its very acceptable to me, high $XXX.

I have the domain listed on sedo is the best way to close the deal to change my setting from make an offer to the exact amount and direct them to the listing, or is it easy to close the deal privately? of course I want to keep as much in my pocket as possible but this is my first real sale so please advise

will gladly add rep for replies

First of all, congratulations. Great news!

Personally, I wouldn't direct the buyer to a Sedo listing. It adds a potential further complication to the closing process, may frustrate the buyer who will have to register a Sedo account, and will cost you Sedo's 10% commission. In order to handle the transaction safely and conveniently, use an escrow service to close the deal (escrow.com or moniker.com). Your closing fees will be less than through Sedo while you'll still have the convenience of a directed, secure transaction.

Best of luck.

i always prefer private deals rather than sedo..

less complicated and less commission associated with all the procedure

great thanks I will look into escrow.com they seem to have the cheaper fees and the domains not at moniker

who usually pays the fees?

Through escrow.com, either the buyer or seller can pay the fees. Since the escrow fees are likely to be around $20-30 and you've already reached a closing price with the buyer, I would just pay them yourself. (For Standard Escrow process, $800 transaction will cost $26 according to Escrow.com's fee calculator.)

Again,
Congrats and Good Luck.

Please let us know how this goes. I'm beginning to sell off some of my domains that I've been acquiring and would love to hear how your experience went.

BTW- Nice and clear answers above to the initial question.

Hope the sale goes through without a hitch!!!!

I bought a domain through Sedo and it was a nightmare working them on a transfer issue. I would definitely use escrow.com.
