Google Ranking

Watch
About 3 weeks ago, I have a MiniSite developped for my Cameos.net and after 2 weeks, I was surprised to already seem my site ranking on Google PAGE 3 for the term "Cameos". And now I can't see to find the site under any relevant search. The ranking seems to have slipped big time and I am not sure why. Nothing has been done to merit a "google slap". Is this normal? Maybe it is the process of being ranked again?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

There is still a newbie bonus for new sites I believe.

So this is normal.

sorry don't quite understand... can you explain please?
Just don't understand why I was ranked on page 3 after 1-2 weeks... and now I'm not even in the top 20 pages (even if it has only been 3 weeks in all)

It's called "Google Dance". When the competition is not high, properly optimized new sites tend to rank high right away, and then drop a lot. Time has to pass in order to get those rankings again (and some inbound links too).

Normal.

I obtained #1-#2-#3 immediate rankings for different sites that are exact keyword match for niche, for a few weeks.......fun to watch and traffic is great............then they drop.

Gotta build up fresh content and quality links.

So even though my PR2 site (Cameos.net) has dropped due the G dance, it should climb back up over time (over the next few weeks/months) if I understand correctly? Especially as there is not much competition. Fresh, unique content was inserted about 10-14 days ago.

You understood it correctly and if you search for "Newbie Bonus" + Google you will find a lot of interesting stuff and of course also about "Google Dance".
The time will tell you if you did enough to rank better. Its not only building links, create fresh content it`ยดs Seo. That means its a never ending process.:D
Good luck !

Thanks, I'll do some researching.
But I don't think it's very difficult to rank high for keywords - especially if 1) the KEYWORDS are in the domain themselves and 2) there is not too much competition and) they are actual products/services (like those in my signature that were made over the past 2-3 weeks).
For instance, I created a 1-page lander for my SleepNaturally.com domain (just some unique paragraphs with interesting content, a few ads etc.). Not really optimized. But noticed just today that it already ranks on the 1st page for "sleep naturally" - it was only put together about 5-6 weeks ago.
I expect most of my little sites (in signature) to rank somewhere in the top 1-3 pages over at google.com - maybe in 2-4 months time. Was just really surprised to see Cameos.net "disappear" after ranking on page 3 after just 2 weeks of going LIVE. But now I know it will rank again in the not-too-distant future (Federer says, still hoping)...

Yes, I have one minisite I launched in April which initially was high on page two of Google and ranked on pages 3 to 5 for another similar phrase. It has moved around slightly but now low on page one of Google for the first phrase and on page two of Google for the related prhase.

Another Spanish minisite is getting organic traffic from the search engines in Latin America (especially Mexico) but I don't see it ranked in the top ten pages by Google or Yahoo in the US. So it appears your ranking can vary by region.

I understand putting Adsense ads on a site too early can hurt your rankings so I have been waiting a while before I put Adsense ads on my sites.

it's also possible that they put you there initially to see if your site converted at all, and then noticed that it didn't so just dropped you.

Yes, I think this is quite normal with new sites. They rank well for the 1st week or 2, then usually drop. Before climbing back up slowly (can take anything from 3-4 weeks to 3-4 months). For instance my WireShelving.net has just been finished, and already ranks at page 2 for the term Wire Shelving. It will soon no doubt drop before climbing back up over time.
