The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

I think it is safe to assume that if there is an update and a domain is not currently registered that there is a good chance it will get zapped.

Buying a domain, especially one that has expired, for pagerank is like buying stock that made a profit... last year.

Sometimes the PR hangs around. I just check and there are two I bought in 2007 that have held on to their PR. One even went up in this last update.

Of course as soon as I registered the names I looked them up at archive.org to see what their previous content looked like. Then I put up a one page site that talked about whatever their previous topics had been plus some words to slide more or less naturally into a subject on theme with one of my other websites.

I think the folks running some of the larger websites don't ever look at deep outbound links unless they notice the link fails. News organizations for example, may do a feature on some business with a link to the business from the article. Then the article ages into their archives and is lost forever--- Except for a little link juice coming my way :)

It's been a while since the last full update. A significant chunk of PR domains released should now still be showing PR.

Whether Google shows a PR for released domain has to do with when the last update was. Once the last update moves well into the past, you'll see more PRs.

I should note that the PRs listed are often faked or out-of-date.

Difficult to say.
In any case all old links are there and google should count them for PR calculation I suppose.
