"Google considers websites with country code domains to be more relevant to searchers who reside in the corresponding countries."

So if you want to target local traffic say the US for example then it's best to use a .US,...Right? At least along with your .com. What are your thoughts?

True for many cctlds, for example if you search google.ca you'll see a lot of .ca results. But doesn't seem to hold up for .us, possibly because it never caught on.

You can easily target a site on a .com or any gtld to a particular country through your settings in google search console.

I wouldn't build 2 sites unless one is entirely targeted to a different country and demographic. Different product focus, language, content...

Noticed Some global companies owning the .com also build sites on cctlds with the local language and more personalized info.

Either on cctlds or on subdomains. Besides the language, some products are more popular in some countries than in others, so makes sense to target the market.
