GoDaddy is auctioning off some domain names from the NameFind portfolio, names like Cliche.com, VisitVegas.com and Sitcom.com to name a few. In a press release they said it was to mark the end of the Beta phase of the new GoDaddy Auctions. The fact that these are no reserve auctions should attract a fair amount of interest. From the release:To mark the end of the Beta phase, we're … [Read more...]

Here is a link to the actual auctions, already live - https://auctions.godaddy.com/beta?q=namefind

No reserve but of course most have starting bids in the 4 figures. Start auctions at the minimum you'll take for them.

So they aren't no reserve strictly speaking? Just a higher opening bid. Those marketing teams like to take us on a ride eh.

Some nice names in there. Are GD struggling to pay the bills? Layoffs and inventory sales.

I like scapegoat.com, one word, <10 letters, 2 syllables, really brandable and versatile. There are a couple of other nice ones, but that one pops the most.

But I'm going to hold out for six days to see where they're at before chipping in.

We know that GoDaddy has had issues with their auctions.

Will people be able to trick the auctions for these domains, or not?
I bet they'd sort that out in record time when it's their own portfolio names. Imagine it got gamed and someone paid the opening bids for them. I guess that's why they've put those high opening bids on them (otherwise known as a reserve). I mean really they're the only ones losing money when it's done on the expired names. Baffles me they don't at least try something to combat it.
