Godaddy has a new thing now with their backorders! I don’t really think it is legal though if one were to obtain a lawyer?

I had a domain on backorderI paid the $18.95 backorder fee for the service ..obviously godaddy obtained it, ..........but then I received an email that said …that the domain was going to auction first…and they would put in a bid for me….should the domain not be bid on by anyone else the domain was mine!………..
I freaked out….there is something totally wrong with this….

If you pay for a backorder service…and then they send it to auction…isn’t that a conflict of interest on godaddy’s part.

They are falsely advertising backorder service…when in fact they are only giving you a backorder on contingency of them sending it to another part of their site for auction first and then you have to compete for the domain……………..

I am really disatisfied with this company from other things, and I am slowly but surely moving all my domains out of there!

Welcome to the corporate domain system where these types of businesses can do what they want. You have no course of action and you have no say...until ICAAN gets off their ass and does the right thing we will all continue getting screwed. Have a nice day :)

Tottally agree with you. It is impressive why ICANN has not taken an action yet.

I am also moving all my domains out of GoDaddy soon. Slowly, because it takes a looooong time to transfer all...

I had a bad experience with godaddy backorder service as well. They were not able to nab several domains for me, and I had to switch it to a different domain several times over, till it finally got one.
