hi,

Ive just got this message from a godaddy member of staff about the refunds on eu domains that havent been captured by GoDaddy:

Dear Darren;

Thank you for contacting Customer Support. The .eu registry has begun
its landslide registration of all non-trademarked .eu domains. The
registrars, such as GoDaddy, are attempting to register the domains
pre-ordered by their customers as quickly as they can. However, if more
than one registrar has a preorder for the same domain, only one of them
will be able to register it first. We will make every effort to register
the domain you have ordered through us during the pre-registration
period; if we are not successful, you will be able to apply for a refund
of the pre-registration price, minus the application fee for the domain.
This non-refundable fee amounts to 25e. We apologize for any
inconvenience should we not succeed in filling your pre-registration
order. Please let us know if we can help you in any other way.

Sincerely,

Eric B.

On reading it says the amount non refundable is 25e So does this mean it costs 25.00€ of 0.25€??

As i only paid the $15 dollars for it which is around 12€ im guessing im never going to see that money again and its gone?

Regards,
Darren

General pre-registrations* are available with no application fee. These domain(s) will be submitted by all participating registrars in the order they are received when the registry opens for First Come First Served registrations in the first quarter of 2006.

This is what they use to say a while ago...LINK

You'll find this.."Registration Fee:
1 year $19.95
General pre-registration requests do not have an application fee.* "..

on the top right side of the page..

Thanks Danidan I couldn't find that link!!!

Here's another one...
Sunrise and General Pre-registration Applications

You acknowledge and agree that the submitting of a "Sunrise or General Pre-registration Application" does not ensure that a domain name shall be successfully awarded or registered. In the event that an application does not result in a successful registration, the registration fee shall be refunded. In the case of a "Sunrise Application" where an application fee was collected, a portion of that fee shall be refunded after the deduction of a handling fee, which You acknowledge and agree is subject to change based on fluctuations in the US Dollar and Euro exchange rates. [/qoute]

The underline is from me...

Here is the LINK

We should probably relax somewhat - which I admit is hard to do because of how upset I feel about Godaddy right now (I'm also upset with myself because I should have researched better and asked more experienced domainers advice about where to register - in fact I should have just become a .eu registrar myself....)

I would be very very surprised if a company with a generally excellent reputation like Godaddy doesn't give everyone a FULL refund and a apology for their fiasco. Anything less than that would probably be a "terminal" issue for Godaddy - who do a lot of business with domainers. I believe that Bob Parsons will step up to the plate and tell the truth and take the hit. World class service demands that he do this.

My problem and I'm sure most of domainers problem here is that we dont want our money back WE WANT THE DOMAINS WE ORDERED - OR AT LEAST TO HAVE HAD A FAIR SHOT AT GETTING THEM! That is lost now, and that is the bigger tragegdy.

Before I did any preordering with GoDaddy I called them to make sure that I would get a full refund if they didnt get the domains they confirmed that I would get a full refund. Thats good enough for me - I'm fully confident we will get a full refund and quickly. In this enviorment with the general mood about Godaddys performance in the .eu landrush, anything less would be very very bad for business.

Peace,
Tarry G

Like niceguy, I also called GoDaddy previously and was told that everyone would get a refund for failed .eu pre-regs, so the best thing to do is remain calm and give them a chance to get things resolved. It's unfortunate this took place heading into the weekend, which will cause a delay, and certainly not help the frayed nerves of people waiting for their money, but I don't think there is any reason to be alarmed. I feel confident everyone will get their refunds.

As for why they apparently didn't win any names..... don't ask me. :( :-/

Dear Max *******,

Thanks for contacting Customer Support.

We will give you a full refund on any domain .EU domain names that we are unable to register, without any fees charged. This refund may take more than 24 hours however, because we do have to proccess it first, and then your bank or credit card company has to proccess it. We appreciate your patience in this matter.

In addition, I notice taht all 4 of the.EU domain names in your account are still Pending Application. Due to the large number of .EU domain names that are attempting to be registerd, both with us and other registrars, we were not able to do them all at once. We have them in the queue however, and as soon as the Registry can accept them we will attempt to register them for you. If they fail then, we will start proccessing the refund.

Thanks,
David P.

Seems like we are going to get full refunds then
