hi,

Ive just got this message from a godaddy member of staff about the refunds on eu domains that havent been captured by GoDaddy:

Dear Darren;

Thank you for contacting Customer Support. The .eu registry has begun
its landslide registration of all non-trademarked .eu domains. The
registrars, such as GoDaddy, are attempting to register the domains
pre-ordered by their customers as quickly as they can. However, if more
than one registrar has a preorder for the same domain, only one of them
will be able to register it first. We will make every effort to register
the domain you have ordered through us during the pre-registration
period; if we are not successful, you will be able to apply for a refund
of the pre-registration price, minus the application fee for the domain.
This non-refundable fee amounts to 25e. We apologize for any
inconvenience should we not succeed in filling your pre-registration
order. Please let us know if we can help you in any other way.

Sincerely,

Eric B.

On reading it says the amount non refundable is 25e So does this mean it costs 25.00€ of 0.25€??

As i only paid the $15 dollars for it which is around 12€ im guessing im never going to see that money again and its gone?

Regards,
Darren

I don't get it either, does that mean pre-reg price ($15 or if you ordered before price cut $20) minus the application fee which is what 25euros? I'm confused.

That sounds very "suspect" - charging 25 euros for the privelidge of getting NO DOMAINS THANKS TO THEM BEING SO SLOW OUT OF THE GATE !!!

If anyone has had a refund please post to tell us exactly what fee's they were charged.

I read the TOS before using godaddy and I knew nothing about this fee.

You acknowledge and agree that the submitting of a "Sunrise or General Pre-registration Application" does not ensure that a domain name shall be successfully awarded or registered. In the event that an application does not result in a successful registration, the registration fee shall be refunded.

Unfortunately what alot of companies seem to have been saying on their website for the last year seems to be turning into something different !! :td:

I think there will be alot of S*** hitting the fan in the next few weeks regarding .eu's !! :td:

I had 5 domains pre-reg'd at GoDaddy. Don't think they will be sucessful.

I paid $75 for those five, will I get the full $75 back?

Well from their email no but ive responded asking some questions to hopefully clarifiy it in more detail. However the charge is per domain as each domain has its own application so to speak so i really dont know whats going to happen. GoDaddy seem to have got no one any domains and the amount people have regged with them seems high and if this is true looks like they have made a mint without doing much.

They are apparently charging an "application' fee, which is different from the "registration" fee. I'm guessing the "application" fee is their own fee to cover their time and effort, as lame as it was. Most likely, they will deduct the "application" fee from your registration fee...if they do, what a scam.

It better not be 25 euros per domain !!! - That would cost more than what they charged me in the first place even though they probably new most of the name were already gone.

Surely every name can't have a 25 euro application fee... because 25 euros is more than the domains themselves cost D-: So how would this work with people who applied for just one domain and spent less than 25 euros? :td:

Oh great !!! , wish i had never tried godaddy

I've spent $83 at go daddy for nothing

How much of this will i get back ?

They surely cant do this can they ?

I tell you if they do charge 25 euros per name, then theres going to be thousands of people very very pissed off

Looks like they still may be - I just checked one that I got from Lycos

GoDaddy is saying it is available to reg ?????

If goDaddy are charging people transaction fees then they should not still be showing domains that are taken as been available !!

When I reg'd mine with Godaddy it looked as though it was Live - but then they took all my money and then put the domains in my account as Pre-Reg's !!

GoDaddy will not reach this point.
They MUST refund us.

I had 20 domains there, got NOTHING. And I don't intend to become poor because of their ridicolous performance of today.

We'll give them lots of trouble if they don't refund us all, guarantee.
