GoDaddy or Flippa ?

Hello all. Which in your opinion is best to sell domains - GoDaddy or Flippa ? Auction or BIN ?

One other place is Sedo but this seems to cater for more expensive domains ?

Any advice gratefully received.

I noticed this to this_username_was_banned. I think Flippa auctions should be listed as a no reserve to 'attract' bids (unless it's a good domain of course).

Another thing I noticed is sellers tend to 'big up' the fact if a domain has been registered for sometime. Why does this matter ? Is it because of backsites from other sites ?

Age matters to Google. Also, no-reserve is great for high value domains. I'm on my 3rd no-reserve auction.

I like GoDaddy Auctions better if you're trying to sell to an end user. Since they are the biggest domain registrar in the world, they get a lot of traffic from people looking for a domain name to start a website. They go to GoDaddy and type in the domain they want, and if it's yours that is listed on GD Auctions, the name will pop up and they will see it and be given the chance to buy it. Flippa could never offer this kind of exposure.

From my experience and what I've seen on Flippa, the majority of auctions that are getting a lot of bids and views, are the ones that are getting marketing from outside of Flippa. People will use Flippa as a place to send potential buyers to compete and bid on the a domain. But even with Flippas growing popularity, listing there still doesn't seem to get a lot of views.

The rest is quite true but for the bold part, you can redirect the domain to the Flippa auction and add upgrades to exponentially increase the vale if the domain is worth it. End users usually don't just go to GoDaddy and type, they go for direct type-in and land on the sale page.

Maybe the best answer is both are useful depending on the end user you want to attract.

For example (remember I am new to this), I bought these two domains.

Computers-laptops.com

Speakersforcomputers.com

I want to test the waters by trying an auction for each. I think a no reserve with computers-laptops on Flippa and Speakersforcomputers on GoDaddy.

The reason is this. Speakersforcomputers might attract an end user selling - you guessed it - computer speakers. Computer-laptops might appeal to a bit of a techie who wants to make a site out of computers-laptops.com with Amazon or other affiliate links ?

Completely off track or take a punt and see what happens ?

$9 listings on Flippa simply don't work.

OK this_username_was_banned. I guess you are right but like I say I am just dipping my feet at the moment. I paid £6 each so if they don't sell fair enough - it won't break the bank !

I think I made the newbies mistake of seeing an Esibot value and thinking wow - this is easy money. I now know it's not quite that simple. If it were we would all be .com millionaries !

I did the same thing with roulett.co and I guess you will say the same? Esibot value is $4700 but again it was only 6 quid. Roulett seems to attract a high valuation for some reason - not as high as roulette which attracts mega dollars.

I did. But a $9 listing isn't going to cut it. You need to expect to sell over $2k to afford their Premium Listing and Commissions, imho. I can sell domains on GoDaddy with 10% commissions, with prices of $1-2k at least 2 domains/month. The risk/reward is much better on GoDaddy, imho, without the large upfront costs.

There are certain names that don't need all of that and would be better suited for godaddy.

Flippa hands down is the best platform, $9 listing work, just the good domains that are listed in the $9 section get buried.. Tons of sellers are doing no reserve for hot domains which makes flippa exciting for buyers..
