Hey all, I just wanted to share that godaddy has locked my domains account. This is what happened, I decided to make a new gmail account and make a new godaddy account too the same as my gmail account due to my other account had a lot of spam, I moved all of my domains from my old godaddy account to my new godaddy account and I also have bought domains using their gift codes too. On about wednesday of the previous week I got this email

The terms for the promotional offers used in the referenced shopper account state that Go Daddy reserves the right to deny use of the offers and/or cancel domains purchased using the offers if the offers are abused or used fraudulently, as determined by Go Daddy in its sole discretion.

Similar issues may be avoided in the future by refraining from creating additional customer accounts to circumvent cart restrictions placed on promotional offers.

I have contacted the live chat and also their phone support, they keep saying they " do not have acess and that I need to contact a department where they deal only with email contact, no phone no chat" and why is that if the most importante part of godaddy is the account verification?

After talking with the live chat a staff told me he ld me that he would aware the department godaddy and just after yet today, I received the same email as the previous one. I am not receving any reply on how to get my account back, they just keep sending the same email.

I bought domains with godaddy, I also bought domains from third partys from people selling them as "custom domains" for cheap on forums, and this is what happened. godaddy is the one that icentives people to use their codes and keeps making them so that people can use them otherwise they would already bann the system and nobody would be able to use their coupon codes. So I bought a lot of domains and my account is no longer acessible. All the documents where sent already and nothing from them, just the same email.

So will they even care to unlock my account? I invested in buying those domains with my working Money and now my account is locked.

It has been almost a week and nothing

in the new account, did you use some codes that were not working in the old account?

can you log into the old account?


btw, I think you can change the email for an account - not necessary to make a new account

As Terms of Service (TOS) with most online organizations, having more than one account is considered fraudulent and they have the right to close or terminate your account. The same thing is true for all the online forums too.

Call them and explain the situation and let them know that you made an honest mistake and have no intention to have any fraudulent activities.

What johnn said is just what I was thinking โ€“ most businesses usually wonโ€™t allow you to have more than one account with them as it will violate their terms of service.

What I suggest you do is find out what department was in charge of the termination and call them. Donโ€™t bother emailing them as they might brush it off.

What Iโ€™ve realized when dealing with large businesses is sending an email not only takes longer for someone to take you seriously but they often just ignore it in favor of someone thatโ€™s more urgent. BUT when you call them youโ€™ll have someone right there on the spot that can take action and get the problems solved. Also, if the person youโ€™re talking to canโ€™t do anything about it ask to talk to their manager as the managers often have power to make decisions.

Godaddy has to do this to prevent coupon abuse. Imagine if we could just use all the coupons, create a new account, move the domains and start again! Nope.

He can't call them because, as he's already mentioned in his opening post, the department in question does not do phone calls and email is the only way to reach them.

@GeoBrand: They are cracking down on coupon abuse. Another member posted about this too:

Maybe your account is collateral damage. Keep trying to communicate with them. Unless you are willing to take legal action this is your only hope.

Well I guess youโ€™re only hope is to just keep on contacting them and hope they give in and give you back your account.

Glad to hear this was resolved. Scary no doubt. How many domains were we talking about here?

Also, there's been much discussion on other threads about NP members who have separate personal and business domain accounts at GD. So there must be a fine line regarding what they consider "abuse" and/or "fraud". The coupon use issue adds yet another wrinkle, of course.

It could also just have easily been someone stealing all your domains, as inconvenient as it is it's a good thing GoDaddy are vigilant like this (though it doesn't always turn out that way when it comes to thefts). I guess in future you know to be careful when it comes to coupon codes and multiple accounts, in other words not to mix the two!

Glad you got it sorted though.
