GoDaddy gTLD pre-bids being refunded

Hello all,

I put in a bunch of pre-bid one-word domain names last year and they went through. But today I got this message from GoDaddy:

"An error occurred when you placed your order, so we will be refunding your cost. Please contact us at [email protected] for additional assistance.

We apologize for any inconvenience."

My guess is that means they either pulled these names from sale - or someone bid at the higher level than me. Anyone else get a message like this? Do you agree this means it wasn't really an "error" but rather that someone else bid higher or they pulled it?

Thanks, that was helpful. Yes, it appears these names are all registered. Weird that GoDaddy writes error as opposed to something like "you didn't win the domain". Nevertheless at least I get it now. Thanks again.

Its probably zero to do with anything you did or how much you bid, but instead sponsor of a new gTLD change in the terms. The new gTLD are all about extracting the most the first week or so they each come out.

yea, godaddy are doing some weird stuff with their registration of these 7 new gTLD from donuts registry....

i dont know for sure if itll continue like this but as it stands, when you check the registration of certain domains it will sometimes say "priority register right now for $1,200"

but sometimes it will ONLY offer you the pre-register $39.99 option.... its weird and random.

however this priority registration thing is allowed by donuts... so if somebody paid $1,200 or $3,000 yesterday, this is the prodecure set up by the registry, not godaddy allowing backdoor access or anything..
