Thanks. What happened to sub $9 renewals? Looks like cheapest renewal .com these days is $10
Does Godaddy keeping .com registration high have to do with the influx of new extensions like .guru etc into the market? All these oversupply of extensions is pushing up demand for scarce .com?

I think I may have noticed something about the way that Godaddy lets you use promo codes. If you intend registering more than 1 .com using a code, use your codes in order of value. That is, apply a 99cent code first, then a $1.99, then a $2.49 and so on. It seems the system will let you trade up, or pay more for your next domain; but it won't let you apply a 99cent code after using a $2.99 code.

Ralph, that's incorrect, as I just used a $0.99, $2.95 and $1.99 code in this particular order.
It might be possible that there are limits to how many codes one can use in a given day or from a particular locale.

Try gdbbx1705 for $9.99 dot com renewals + FEE each domain. Worth a shot.

Same happened to me long time ago, when I did not know about codes. This is their standard reply.

There are tons of code here, just browse older pages on this thread.

You will even find a list of more then 50 codes. There are better codes then Comedy, which is a $3 code

Here are some $0.99 codes to get you going:
db99cents FBXDMN22 FBXDMN11 EXTREME123 gofdd053 gofd2005ad scott99 gofd4004ha 99luv gofd075a gofd2001ac Rocket99 SMB99F SUMMER99F(x3)

SUMMER99F is a x3 code, which means you can register 3 $.99 codes at one time.

Sometimes I get this message even if I use my preferred CC, GD support said they are having problems with the payment processing for the issuer bank, and to use another card. Their advice worked. Now I have three cards from different banks on file.
