Nice logic, but unless those promos work for 60 days, then goodluck transferring the names out. Let me know how it goes

I had no idea this was possible. Have you tried it before? I thought an order gets cancelled if not processed within a certain number of days.

If it is possible, then that is going to come in very useful.

haha.. I'm into Future Trends, which means many of the names i have - i have to hold for a long time... point being, there needs to be SOME cost cutting measures in order for me to reach my promised land.

YES - i have done this numerous times using GD as the receiver. Why SHouldn't this work?

Here is the email that GD will send you once you attempt to transfer a brand new domain name:


"Dear XXXX,

You recently purchased a domain name registrar transfer for XXXXXX.COM.

However, the domain was registered on 23-Nov-12. Domain names may not be transferred until after the first 60 days of the initial registration.

We'll keep your transfer active and process it on 22-Jan-13. We'll email the administrative contact at that time for their approval to proceed."


and sure enough.. once that 60 days is up... you will get authorization and transfer code information and the process will begin.

for a little$1.99 coupon code - try it, you'll see - u have nothing to lose.

I have the same problem. Not only when trying to use the sm codes but also when doing normal transactions, e.g. a biz transfer (with preset coupon) to Godaddy.

Have written a ticket to GD support - no answer. Forwarded to my personal guy - no answer. Does Godaddy want to ban his non-American customer base? EDIT: Godaddy responded to my inquiry now.

Same problem here for those $1 codes , not working with French CC .

I clicked on a $0.99 .com Google ad - the code in the resulting URL was gofaca08

Good for 3 new regs or transfers.

I'm in Canada so I'm not sure if it will work anywhere else

the transfer doesn't actually take place until after the 60 days..
... however - you can still purchase and submit the transfer

once the 60 days is up - the transfer automatically begins

I just renewed a .mobi for $11.17 with gdbb776.

Not working for transfers though, which still come out to $18.16. It's almost as if GoDaddy doesn't want to sell .mobi's. Thankfully I'm down to 10 or less.
