Have you already forgotten 'flowers', 'showers', and 'INDY500' all within about the past 2 weeks.

Domains also cost them more that it did 5 years ago

Of course not, however, that's just for a few domains. Not at all what I'm talking about.

I recall when some of their discount codes seemed virtually ever lasting and would discount to the point where it was obvious GD was satisfied to gain market share while not actually making money initially. The sheer numbers alone will earn GD a great deal more than they could ever lose by taking an initial loss. With TDNAM alone it behooves them to have as many names under their belt as possible.

Do you really think the initial cost is the most important thing?

If they weren't so heavily funded to advertise themselves into the position they're in, Bob Parsons support of SOPA would have caused them to scramble to keep their largest domain holders as happy with multiple discounts as they could possibly be. IMHO

Disrespect? By not giving you prices less than cost they are disrespecting you?

I hope you show your customers respect by giving them 30% coupons off your value pricing:thumbup:

If I had a virtual monopoly such as TDNAM to earn money on the back-end that could become a wise business decision, don't you think?

Love,
Marcia

Disrespect what? There are coupons all over this thread, as always.

And 99.9% of those are either no good any more or the prices went up.
They are just not the coupons there use to be.
I mean 3 for $7.49?
That's not a good sign at all even with the occasional .99 cent bone thrown in once in a while..

Marcia, I agree that they make a lot of money on tdnam, but crappy hand reg's today (which most of them are) won't result in tdnam sales next year. We should probably move this to it's own thread if you want to discuss further and leave this thread to codes.

Bacon3 is still working for .com renewals @ $7.99

Of course prices go up, the cost of buying domains goes up from time to time. Of course some coupons will expire, that's why people keep posting new ones. I've used the indy ones, showers/flowers etc. they all worked. Used some other one last month for $4.99 .coms, got like 4 of them. GD has always been pretty competitive with their prices. Has nothing to do with disrespect or anything. They don't have to offer coupons, they don't have to be competitively priced. You always reg domains at other registrars.

As mentioned, another thread should be opened to discuss it further, keep this on track.

.com domains for 7.49

Code : Game101

up to 3 domains, additional .coms for 7.99

Anyone have anything better than 31% off for .TV renewals? Thanks!

If you want to complain, then send your complaint to Verisign.
They raise the prices each year.

Normally digital products / tech products etc. always get cheaper, because the costs of the supplier gets cheaper.

But with Domains its the other way around.
Why? Simply because there is a monopol (Verisign).

As for prices of Godaddy, i would never use them if they wouldn't give me the occasional 1$ , 5$ promo code. There are other Registrars (like Dynadot) with a clean and more or less ADfree interface which i would use. I go through 10 pages of extra bullshit products only because of the price. Thats ok for both sides. You get good price and you have to see all the extra shit. But honestly if Godaddy would stop the cheap codes, there is no motivation for me to stay there.

Maybe someone needs to break them up like ATT :)

I never have to look at extra pages, I have VIP status and it gives me Express Buy.
I love Godaddy's interface I just want to see more promos like 5 domains at $2.99 :)

How did you get VIP Status? We have couple hundred domains there but don't have any special status.
Don't you need to spend few K each month to get that or did they change it?

interesting , i have express buy , never knew it was anything to do with vip ......me thinks if you spend regularly they make it easier for you ??

I just successfully used this link: https://www.godaddy.com/?isc=gofx006hi to register a single .com for $5.13 which included icann. It wound not let me register three however. I was also able to use Game101 to register another three .com domains for $7.67 total each.

VeriSign has a far bigger Monopoly than Godaddy has or will ever have, but why would I waste my time writing to them? VeriSign has no incentive to lower their prices. Certainly not one like GD would have if they happened to lose market share by not catering to their largest domain name holders. If there were an upstart company, let's call them DoGaddy and they were willing to take an initial loss in return for long-term market domination, you can bet that GD's annual recession proof revenue would take a huge plunge from the heights it's at now.

Anyway, that's my final word on the subject because I would rather this thread stayed on topic too.

lol, i just saw that i have the "express buy" function too.

I just NEVER SAW it hahaha.

So i guess i am a "VIP" too, but i never realized when i got the status :D

Are you sure Express buy has anything to do with VIP? When you use your creditcard to do a checkout, doesn't it have a check box to use that card as express buy in the future? I'm going going by memory but i could be wrong.

I know i always have to uncheck it because i dont want godaddy remembering my Cardinfo.

you could be right, because i gave my creditcard info to Godaddy.
So maybe we are not "VIPs" but simply gave Godaddy our CC details and therefore now can use expressbuy.

I only know that i never receaved any email from Godaddy telling me that i am now VIP or something, but sometimes they send me offers and tell me "its only for our best customers", could be bullshit though

I sure as hell don't have vip status and I have an "express buy" option as well.

I only have like 100 domains. I like Godaddy because of their service. I can call and get a refund without much hassle.

I don't have VIP status either, I would refer to myself as a low range domainer with about 100 domains and I too have an "Express Buy" button.

Back in the aughts when I used to own several thousand domains, GD assigned me my own account manager to handle any issues that I might have but this didn't happen until I had about 1,200 or so names in two accounts, one was separated after GD assumed RegFly's names under court order.

This has been working for several months to my knowledge.

Ok here is a way to get an .info for 1.99 instead of 2.99 (even WITHOUT registering a .com or any other additional domain).

Remember, this is only good if you want .info only and not an additional .com (because if you want a .com, you will get a free .info anyway)

1) Search for a domain name you want with an obscure extension (an extension which is still free with your domain - like .com.bz , .net.co or whatever)

2) Go to checkout

3) Its important that only at checkout you click on the little red field "add these matching domains" and click ".info" (don't do it manualy)

4) then delete the obscure extension

5) Voila you got an .info for 1.99 (instead of 2.99)

(also always remember to click one year registeration length, otherwise it doesn't work)

It continues to work and hopefully will for a long time to come!

Just calculate how much "initial loss" Godaddy takes with each of its 1$ codes (usually 10.000 domains). Around 60K ?

Or with the 5$ Codes. 10K?

Each time

I don't know any other Registrar with so many cheap codes each month. Godaddy is the only one.

How helpful are those codes to people who own/register thousands of domains?

One registration per account. You're missing my point entirely, I have continued to point out that GD used to cater to mid and large range domainers but tend not to any longer.

Perhaps there are some domainers who have circumvented the system and found a way to use the codes multiple times, I don't know.

You can't expect to register 1000s of Domains each 1$
renew them for 1$ , etc.

No single Registrars will do that, because they will be bankrupt, even with all the extra shit they try to shove down your throat (hosting etc)

The only way to get that
1) Versign decreasing the prices drastically
2) Taking away their Monopol

Since that will probably never happen, we need to calculate the way its is. Around 6 to 7 Dollars / Domain + Renewal each year, plus take the occasional 1$ domain as a bonus.

Sorry thats the reality of Domain Business, and thats why so many domains drop each year

Even the big players like buydomains, hugedomains, etc. pay over a million dollar each Year for Renewal of their hundreds of thousands of domains

I have no problem with Godaddy's prices. I like the service and wouldn't transfer my domains to anyone else.

If I were Bob I would charge more ;). Give me all the money!

I forgot : There IS one way to get 1000s of domains 1$ each.

All you need to do is having a list of domains you want ready.

Then wait until Godaddy has one of those rare Loopholes again :D
