I wanted to renew a .com domain and contacted support via live chat yesterday.
I told them about the lack of renewal coupons and high renewal prices. They didn't care.
I was told that there aren't any renewal codes. Bye bye, Godaddy...I'm about to transfer my domain name to namesilo ($8.99/year).

That's strange.. As far as I know they have stopped there Live Chat and Email Support. Anyway , if you can transfer domains out..its good.

I just tried to complete the transfer and of course Godaddy is trying to pull the 60 day domain name lock bulls**t. I received a "REGISTRAR TRANSFER DENIED" email from them.

This happens when:

1) You update contact info for the domain
2) You obtain the domain name through an expired auction
3) The domain name is transferred into your account from another account
4) The domain name was registered within the last 60 days

When you go onto the domains details page it should say the reason near "Email authorization code"

If you can renew in a bunch of 4 or 1 domain for 4 year totaling your cart amount to $50 or above, use the code : acosks65 save $10 on every $50, can be used as many times as you want.

Thanks - both worked. I also tried this variation that worked (I was playing around with different currencies, not sure if that made a difference):

ADNI295UK ($3.13 .com registration)

Might be more variations out there....

As long as it's not been registered or transferred within 60 days, they can unlock it.... you just have to contact them and jump through the hoops....

Yes this happened to me before too. I was going to change the contact info for some domains at goodaddy, not the name though. I will do it on a name that expires past the 60 days. I am sure alot of people go to renew, and see they have old contact information, update it so its correct for the transfer, then get rammed from behind by big bad Bob. Ching Ching

Yes, there's a lot of discussion to be had about the advantages and disadvantages of each registrar--as well as the sudden disappearance of GoDaddy's renewal codes--but save it for other threads. A lot of people subscribe to this thread in search of new codes; they've already heard the complaints a million times over, and are well aware that renewing at GoDaddy is rarely cost-effective. Thanks

For the record, GoDaddy stopped creating new renewal codes in the second half of 2013. By around March/April, 2014, most renewal codes had expired. The last renewal code expired at the beginning of July, 2014.
