Godaddy called me, didn't leave a message. I didn't answer because I didn't know the number. They haven't sent me an email, so I am very curious and nervous as to whats up. Like, why do I need to talk with them on the phone. Are they verifying something?

Anyone have an idea? Thanks.

I get calls all the time from them... Usually to say "hello" and see if I'm doing OK. Sometimes I wonder if they're going to offer to fluff my pillows at home. Not even joking. :alien:

They will usually just call and see if there's anything they can do to help you, and will often sweeten the pot with some kind of promo.

sometimes they just call to thank you for being a customer and to see if there's anything they can assist you with - lol

1st time they called me I was sure they were going to offer me premium domains for next to nothing ::}}

curiosity is good - nervous! - they should be nervous about you!!! - no worries....Best, Cate

Thats a relief. So, its like an automated message telling you about a renewal or offers? Or a person.

Wasn't use to this because my other registrar never called me.

thanks

They've called me a few times now...once asking if I would like the private whois applied to my names, than again to apologize to for the .me mixup. Nothing to be nervous about I'm sure. :)

They usually call you after you reg your first domain saying thank you etc

It's a courtesy call. Always freindly and not pushy. I would take the call-often they have an a over-the-phone offer for you that you will not likely see elsewhere. It's a good time to clear up any questions you may have with them also. It is a live person not a recording.

Most often, like others have said, its a curtesy call mixed with sales pitches. But, never ignore the calls assuming they are such. Godaddy is the most prolific registrar out there when it comes to calling users. While failed billing (if you have auto-renew on domains/services) will get an automated email sent to you, they'll often call to remind you of such (especially multiple domains or expensive services like servers or hosting). And, often, if their system is smart enough to red-flag it, they'll call to verify unusual account activity. I usually only transfer one or two domains at a time to a buyer, but Godaddy called very quickly when I once pushed some 50 names at once. They figure better and easier to take the time to verify and clear-up any questions before you come asking after the fact.

It used to happen to me all the time, so I called them up and instructed them to take me off their spam calling list. Otherwise, they should only call me if they suspect any fraudulent activity in my account. It took two calls like this for them to actually take me off their spam list.

I've had other commercial calls like this. With the really annoying ones I answer with:

"Wow, I was just thinking about you while I was cleaning my rifle. What do you want?"

They have called me about every sis months just to see if everything is ok. I have over 500 domains with them and they renew at different dates. They wanted to know if I wanted to do batch renews at a discount.

Use this with all calls seeking sales or collection agencies

Depending on how many domains you have, they could also be calling to see if a Senior Account Rep would be helpful for you.

or.....

It could of been one of the Godaddy Girls :lala:

That is a great idea!!!

GoDaddy has the best customer service hands down in my opinion. They are open 24 hours a day and always willing to help with whatever they can.
