GoDaddy backorders - Question

Hello,

Don’t understand what happened with my backorder at Godaddy.

So, there was a domain (reg. Tucows), I’ve ordered a backorder at Godaddy on that name (it had status Pending deletion). Now I received an e-mail from Godaddy that domain was backordered and is now listed for auction at TDNAM. And my backorder is an opening bid.
Domain wasn’t deleted, it’s now in Expired domain auction.

The question is: why if I was the only one who backordered this name, the domain was listed to auction, but not became mine?

Thanks, Nick

Good question Nick - we've done backorders on GD where we got the name immediately after the pending deletion status expired... somewhere in the fine print, perhaps GD reserves the right to selectively place BO names on TDNAM even if there is only one BO buyer ?

Is it a particularly attractive (dictionary, acronym, etc) name?

Godaddy is a business, and somewhere along the line they figured out why give the domain to you for 18.99 when it could potentially be bid up several hundred dollars.

thanks guys for your inputs.

Rob, it's rather kind of brandable name - I'll post it when it will be mine :)

Begs the question: why bother paying GD $18.99 for a backorder?

What a rip off!
