Has anyone had any luck using GoDaddy's backorder service?

I bought the service a long time ago, but haven't been able to capture any dropped domains. Every time it fails to capture a domain, it reverts back to a domain backorder crdit for the next attempt. Missed out on another one today. At this rate, I'll never get rid of it.

Just wondering if there are any places or times their service works well enough to pick up a domain.

Incidentally, how does the backorder service work with their own domains when they put any domain worth anything in their auction?

@newbie191 - Albert said it best in his second post...

Use GoDaddy backorder only on expiring domain nobody want.

@verbster - The best way to get rid of this GD backorder you have is to backorder something you know is going to drop, and then go have a sleep. Wake up to a captured domain :) It's what I do. Well I'm usually fast asleep when domains are dropping.

When everybody here was saying that godaddy's backorder service is useless I wasn't believing I was thinking that "no this is the best domain registrar in the world. Why would they offer a crappy service." Sadly I was at mistake.
Now that I have tried my godaddy backorder credit on 6 differant domains and godaddy failed to catch any of them I agree with what everybody was saying here. I wonder why they have made this service so pointless? I mean they send a failed capture notification 10 hours after the drop time. This service is a joke. I am going to talk to their support and see if I can use the credit on a closeout or expiring domain auction.

Try other extensions other than .com like .net or .org... They have more success there since there is less competition...

Godaddy Backording will not work for premium domains..
I never had luck. Im using Pool.com Snapnames.com and NameJet.com

And you only need to pay if you win the name.

Your chances of getting a highly sought after dropping domain is slim to none using GoDaddy.

Always check Namejet and Snapnames to see if there are any backorders on the domain prior to deletion - if there are - then don't hold your breath for GD to catch it for you.

I've read a lot about GoDaddy's backordering and using it myself, I gotta say it's completely Whack!

I had a backorder on a domain which I wanted, but usually it never works. I checked the other day and it looks like the name went to some other person. Seriously?

I don't understand this whack backordering system. There have been times I've used GoDaddy backorders for domains regged with them and it still doesn't work. I don't get it!

If it's registered at godaddy and expires it will go to auction.

I agree. I have never gotten their backorder system to work. I will never use it it again. I just use pool.com for pendingDelete and Expiring domains. They backorder those free.

Most people don't have success with Godaddy (as you've read I'm sure)..There are other backorder services out there which you would probably have better luck with and the pricing is about the same.

Always remember if there is a name you really want then it's always best to backorder with multiple places.

GoDaddy's back order system is only good for domains that drop and are not picked up by anybody else. Heck they cannot even beat a GoDaddy hand-reg for the same domain. That's how Whack they are.

Years ago it may have been worth it to use their backordering service. Nowadays with GoDaddy being a bigger player in the Domain Auction industry, the likelihood of being able to pick up a domain via the backordering system is very, very, very minimal. As others have stated on this thread, once it drops their auction house system will pick it up and try to sell it.

Godaddy back ordering does have a use, it's a cheaper way of regging names without having to pay attention.

So if I'm hoovering up domains for my niche I just put it in there and forget about it, until it is kindly delivered to my account :).

It is true though, if there is any kind of competition for a name, you won't get it using Godaddy.

Good luck!

I can't get my head around it either. I thought they went to auction but it's beyond me at this point LOL

expired domain catching

I was just curious if anyone had used any particular program with any amount of success I've read a few people commenting about Scripts but I was just interested if they had something similar to an eBay sniping tool that could be used?

2 domains are backorderd
both are dropping today

look at the "last checked on" there is a big interval between them
so, godaddy backorder is not useful... :(unless I am too lucky)

.coms drop between 2:00PM-2:47PM EST, gd might not be the best drop catcher but they do manage to catch names that I also booked elsewhere, there is no way they would catch anything if between 2:00PM-2:47PM EST they do not have their threads out in full force.

Keep in mind GD's pricing is within range of:

Pheenix
Dynadot
and if you are new to backorder zone their pricing is also within range (goes up after a few orders)

Given you only pay once you can order it at a few places.

And if it's really important to ya then order it up everywhere

it says:
available date 4/16/2014
last checked on 4/16/2014 9:36 AM

and you are saying .coms drop between 2:00PM-2:47PM EST

they have to be checking at least 2:00PM not 9:36 AM!

am I missing something?

thanks AEProgram
