GoDaddy Backorder and NameJet

I found a domain that I would like to register that expired in a couple of weeks, so I placed it on backorder using GoDaddy. The domain has now expired, and goes to a NameJet backorder page with a starting bid of $69.

I thought that as I backordered it, I would have got it when it expired? Is my only chance of getting it to place a bid with NameJet?

NameJet says it needs to be backordered by a certain date, what happens after this date if no ones bidded on it?

Cheers

names regged at godaddy usually are caught by gd

names regged at netsol. enom, dotster, namecheap and some others are usually caught by namejet

you will have to bid for it at namejet and if no one bids, then it may drop, unless current owner renews it

imo...

Probably the name has not dropped yet.

It can be backordered at different places including namejet, but at this point any dropcacther could catch the name.

What's the status of the domain according to registry ?

It is a little different than that. Names that are regged at godaddy will automatically go to auction at godaddy and godaddy doesn't need to catch any of them because all of them are still under the control of godaddy for 45 days after they expire. This is called a pre-release auction and it is the first auction.

Similarly, names that are registered at netsol. enom, dotster, namecheap will automatically go to aution at namejet.

The domain will drop about 35 days after the date that shows on namejet and the fastest dropcatcher will catch it which is not godaddy. They are the slowest.

Get the domain now at namejet for 69 or 35 days later it will be scanned by 1000 people and none of them must want the domain in order for you to get it. There are about 20 different companies and individuals that can beat godaddy in dropcatching.

Let me explain this way:

In order for your Godaddy backorder to work, all these things must happen:
1) nobody must bid on the namejet auction and
2) 35 days later when the domain enters pending delete about 1000 people will scan the pending delete list and none of them must backorder it at snapnames, intrustdomains, name.com, namejet and pool and a few other places because godaddy can not beat any of them.

If you let the domain go now because you think 69 is too much, chances are somebody will snap 35 days later when it drops and list for sale for 2000 USD.

A lot of smart people have developed very sophisticated software that scans through all dropping domains and finds anything valuable.

The domain is registered with enom.

So if I bid on it via NameJet now, assuming I am the highest bidder, I will get it on the date that NameJet says I need to bid by?

Yes, that's right. I suggest that you wait until the last day and bid on it on namejet. If you are the only bidder you will get the domain for $69 at the end of the time that shows at namejet. If there are other bidders, there will be a 3 day auction between you.

Enom and namejet belong to the same company. All enom domains are pushed to auction at namejet between day 22-42 after expiry. This is the first auction. Don't miss it. Once the domain is out of enom's control (this will happen after day 45 if nobody bids on the first auction) anything can happen to it and it can land on anywhere.
