Did anyone see the new Godaddy ad on todays football game (panthers vs bears) ?
It was great, sexy and funny, just what i think about when looking for a domain. They are the only ones to step out of the box and go nation wide with an ad campaign. This one was as good as the SuperBowl one last year.:tu:

I sould love to see if those commercials even do them any good. I think they need to stick with the testimonial commercials. They cater to the market they need to target, the small business market. JMHO. If someone would jsut pop the inflated ego of Bob Parsons I think Godaddy could better target their best markets. Again, JMHO.

EB, :) Don`t you have a problem with Bob anyway?
It`s marketing, and it`s about attention and setting up a campaign that will be talked about. You know how all the SuperBowl ads are the week after it. The ads they place are only during the NFL playoffs and or SuperBowl (i think)so i feel they place these ads during this time so they can draw national/world attention in one shot. It is the most watched event in the world, during that period (the SB) its about 80% men, and they use what we will stay seated and watch GIRLS/SEX. And sex sells.. :imho:

I had no idea what godaddy.com was this time last year. It wasn't until I saw their superbowl commercials will that extremely hot girl in it that I was like "woah.. what is godaddy". Later that night i went on the computer to check it out. I'm sure millions of other people did the same thing

Crap.

They can pay for those ads but can not pay for a 1800 number. Pathetic.

Yes, sex sells, but I personally oppose it. I also oppose to the fact that women are used as sh*t in these ads.

Lol, I saw an ad about a shoe and the size of the shoe on the image is 2% of the total poster which is filled with the naked body of a woman. Worst at its best.

Show some relavancy, how is a woman half naked connected to domains. Does not make sense to me at all.

Now it is a different thing if my opinion matters to Bob or Godaddy.

Well, actually, if you look really close at the model they hired, she ain't a natural beauty. Amazing what you can do with a camera. I'd hate to wake up beside her in the morning. If you look eally hard at her, she looks like a man. A butterface.

My point is, those commercials can't cost as much as you might think.

Yeah. I agree. For cars? Yes. For even shaving cream? yes. for domain names? No. It just goes to show that Bob is in over his head and his ego took hold of his life.

It's almost like..."Hey guys, look at my new commercials. Huh, huh? like it? huh? Huh, guuys? Huh guys? Like it? It's mine. She's mine.

I'd like to meet bob in person once. I bet he's a real dweeb and a real loser - socially speaking.

Pro wrestling and Acting are pretty much the same thing.

Half naked is only to get your attention away from the beer and pizza long enough to look at the logo on her chest and hear the company name. These ads aren't to sell features or price, they are to get name recognition. The day after water-cooler talk does just that.

...look here, it started a whole thread with a title "Godaddy..."... Apparently it succeeded.

Yes, obviously it is for name recognition. However, they way it is done for the product, I think, is not a good way to go for domain names.

Secondly, the target audience is all wrong, especially with the sex. I just don't see how the general public is interested in domains and websites when they have MySpace and places like that where it is much more fun and easy and free to get a web page. Targeting superb*wl audiences and then with sex just seems like a bad fit for a domain company.

Maybe I'm wrong, but it just seems like a bad move to me.

There is more than one way to grab people's attention for name recognition. Sex is one of them, however, it's not good for all products/markets. Comedy is another one and I personally think that GD should go with comedy over sex. I just think it would fit better for domains.

Like I said, the sex route just seems so out of place to me for the product and it makes it cheesy. But not cheesy in a good way.

But anyway, that's why it may very well be that Bob just wanted to do it because it got to his head and he thought it was cool. Let's face it, that first superb*wl commercial they made was really cheesy, despite the sex. Just plain dumb, really. The fact that they had to play on the previous superb*wl's controversial event was just tacky and annoying. It's like being that annoying guy at the party that dresses funny and goes around making bad jokes and bringing up yesterdays jokes and thinking he is funny, but really he's just an annoying dude bringing the place down.

When the GD commercial came on, it was like as if to say..

"Heeeeya superb*wl fans! 'member last year?! 'meeeeember? Huh? Y'know, Jaaaaaanet Jackson? "Waaaardrobe malfunction"? Huh? huuuuuh? 'member that? 'member? Huh? Huh? Pretty cool. huh? Check this out, guys, check this out!"

About the wrestler. She might have been, I guess, but it's hard to believe. She's not a very big girl. All the other female wrestlers I have seen are tall and big boned women. Maybe she was a wrestler's sidekick, like Elizabeth was to the Macho Man. I could see that.

Ebook, you also just hate bob and godaddy for your own reasons, so it wouldnt matter if they used Mother Tereasa.

again, hating on him personally, if he is what you say he is a rich successful dweeb, would we like to OWN godaddy?

RIIIIGHT........ and so you think she is just so ugly you cant stand the ad? Well if she is so ugly he is not using sex to sell the name. Make up your minds people. Im sure you have had better? Look i saw here last year and thought the same thing she was "Body HOT" and could have used some help in the face but she was not a 2?

Oh, oh, oh. I see. Your opinion is right an dmine is wrong. how silly of me. How silly.

I mean, to think that I was making fun of the girl because she is intrinsically a butterface. I merely pointed that out to make the other poster understand that such factors are BIG factors in the cost of the whole package for TV ads. Genuinely cute will cost more money. Hollywood is no different from the porn industry. The more you got, the more you get.

Personally, I think it set the domain industry back two years, but not because they used a girl, sex appeal, and controversy. It irked me that they said come to godaddy and get your "dot-com" names, as if dot-com is all that is available or all they sell. I don't think they even mentioned the word "domain" as if their target audience wouldn't understand it. If I were Affilias or Neustar, I don't think I'd be too happy about that.

There's a saying in the ad industry, that all publicity is good publicity, whether it's positive or negative. the name recognition partially due to controversy sent godaddy past NSI as the number one registrar in names, which gave them even more publicity inside the industry afterwards.

Look at the bright side. At least NSI is no longer the number one registrar. Name recognition means a lot in the internet industry. I can remember telling my friends about this great and simple looking new search site called Google. now it's a household word and contender worrying Microsoft.
