Gname’s behavior is truly disgusting.

Ten days ago, I made a post (here) exposing how Gname’s auction platform deliberately hides premium domain renewal prices to mislead users into bidding. I demanded a refund. Their support rejected it, claiming that bidding has nothing to do with whether a domain is premium — as if auction price and renewal cost are unrelated. Is that sheer incompetence or shameless sophistry?

Then today, I received a redemption notice for the domain and the payment was refunded. At the same time, Gname suddenly responded to the post, acting as if they had just "learned the facts" and processed the refund, putting on a show of being helpful and humble.

Gname is a company registered in Singapore but operated by Chinese nationals, in order to circumvent regulatory oversight and scrutiny from Chinese authorities. And I know their shameless tactics all too well. Their reputation is terrible on Chinese forums and social media like Weibo. Don’t be fooled by Gname!

Is the domain actually redeemed? Maybe you received this mail because it was sent automatically after they cancelled the auction in order to refund you?

If you have time, you can look up the registrar and registration history of the domain NEU.xyz.

The domain is indeed reactivated, but... it's at namecheap, not gname? What kind of auction was it exactly?
Maybe it was registered (and expiring) at gname but the registrant transferred it out? Sorry, I don't keep historical records for all domains. :) But update date is 2025-05-01, so quite a while ago.

Basically, users may participate in auctions run by third-party registrars.

So it was a namechep expired auction?
Updated date is 2025-05-01T16:40:44.0Z
Auction end time (from the screenshot in the other topic) was 2025-05-01T15:06:11.0Z
So it seems the update might have been the result of them paying for the auction, no?
Or are we certain that the registrant before and after is the same?
If OP paid immediately, then they paid for the auction but in the meanwhile the problem arose with the premium renewal and we know the rest.
I don't know, just trying to cut it with Ockham's razor...

Yes because Namechep , Namesilo , Snapnames & others ( know or dont know ) & should NOT allow this kind of practice made by a registrar who basic have an account on this other registrars
I mean Gname ask to pay a deposit , ask 7$ not refundable , ask money even for air if is possible +
If the buyer dont pay for a win auction & bid on Gname , Gname will keep the domain for himself & do with the domain what he like +
No syncro data i was witness on a auction where Namesilo lost few thousand dollars because on Namesilo was just me & Gname but on Gname was chinese who bid
I bid an amount of few hundreds but on Gname was thiusands...
But no problem with this all ok in this type of world afterall GD make warehouse & fake sales 🤷

So basic nothing special on the post of 789.xyz

I don't want to waste any more time explaining things. I'm just exposing the unfair treatment I experienced. Whether you choose to use the Gname platform or not is entirely up to you.

Hello @789.xyz,

Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns. We want to address the points you've raised with the respect and seriousness they deserve.

First, regarding the refund: we confirm that the refund for your order has been completed. While our support team had already responded via our internal ticketing system, we regret that we did not notice and respond to your post on NamePros in a more timely manner. We sincerely apologize for any confusion or frustration this delay may have caused. We took full responsibility and ensured the refund was processed properly — as part of our core commitment to treating users fairly and respectfully.

Second, on the topic of premium domain renewals: we deeply appreciate your feedback. You rightly pointed out an important issue — our auction interface did not clearly display the renewal fees for premium domains. We acknowledge this shortcoming and want to assure you and other users that we are actively working on improving the visibility and clarity of this information. Our goal is to provide full transparency so that bidders can make informed decisions without encountering unexpected costs. Your comments have been helpful in highlighting the need for this change.

Regarding our company background, we would like to clarify that Gname is a registrar legally registered and operating in Singapore, serving a global customer base. Our team includes professionals from several countries and regions, and we are proud of our international outlook. We operate in compliance with all relevant regulations and ICANN’s policies, and we are committed to maintaining high standards of service, ethics, and accountability.

Finally, we want to reiterate that we take all user feedback seriously. Such feedback helps us grow, improve, and better serve the domain community. We are committed to learning from our users, and continuing to enhance our platform in both transparency and responsiveness.

Thank you again for your feedback, and we hope to provide you and all our users with a better experience going forward.

Best regards,
— Gname Team

Stop pretending to explain things here.

1、Why did your customer support say something as ignorant as “renewal price has nothing to do with auction”? Is that incompetence or shamelessness?
2、Your support staff repeats meaningless responses like robots and completely ignores the actual questions I raised. And now you're pretending to admit your mistakes?
3、Your finance team kept demanding that I pay the remaining amount, threatening to lock my account and handle the domain otherwise, without ever addressing my concerns.
4、If the domain hadn’t been redeemed, would you even bother to put on this act? The post was left unanswered for 10 days, and now suddenly you’re so active on the forum every day?

Cut the act — what a disgrace!
You can only deceive ignorant foreigners who don’t know what you’re really like.

I can see both sides here. On one hand, bidders definitely need to know if a domain has a premium renewal — that’s basic info that can change how much someone is willing to pay. If it’s missing, even unintentionally, that’s going to cause issues.

On the other hand, I’ve used Gname a few times and didn’t have major problems. It feels like they’re still figuring things out as they scale up. Not an excuse, but maybe explains some of the rough edges.

Would be good to see them acknowledge this kind of feedback and improve how premium domains are shown. That would go a long way toward building more trust.

📢 Update
Gname has added Premium Domain labels to the following sections to improve clarity and transparency:

  • Auction List Page
  • Auction Detail Page
  • My Domain List Page

You can now more easily identify premium domains throughout the platform.
We appreciate your continued trust and support. Should you have any questions, feel free to contact our support team anytime.
