GIMP Help?

CS3 is quite expensive and I don't know that it merits such a high price for me.

I've been looking and playing around with GIMP some, but I am not sure about how to use it. It has confused me a bit. Is there a good guide (website or book) out there to help me along the way? Truly appreciate any good resources you can recommend.

What are you having trouble with? There are a few quirky things to get used to. for example, when you paste onto an image you have to create a new layer for it (Ctrl-l for the layer menu). Or if you crop a photo, you may have to follow up with "resize layer to image size" in the layers menu.

To speed things up, hover over the toolbox icons and it will tell you the keyboard shortcuts.

I'm on Linux and use GIMP and Inkscape for everything. Works great.
