Frequently, I have come across aged names dumped by domainer. Those domains were kept for some 5 years. I'm new, can't tell if they can be sold.

I think those names are fine. (Brandable more often) But since senior domainers decided to dump them, their experience must counted for sth.

So what do you think on this matter?

Experience is just that - experience. No-one can predict the future, though the presumption is that the more seasoned domainer's knowledge concerning a domain's implicit value is greater than that of a newcomer. However, that's not to say that there isn't a sale to be made - it just may be more uphill than that domainer is/was willing to bother with for the perceived prize.

Everyone has their own perspective and judgment, along with their cash budget and their network. But sometimes luck is the most significant factor.

Everybody needs to prune portfolio from time to time. It doesn't mean the domain names are worthless, it usually means there was no offers during that timeframe or that the offers were not worthwhile.
Domaining is also a game that rewards the patient. Maybe waiting 5 years was not enough, but waiting 6 or 10 years would have landed a sale. You never know.
