I have been thinking about buying a dot com geo domain lately and was curious what is a typical/average price that is paid for a town with 10 to 15k population for the "town".com domain.

Thanks in advance.

It depends upon the exact town/city, it would be good if you post the exact name.

It can range wildly... Under $1K if it's a place with very low search volume, up to (whatever) for places that have high search volume, significant tourist traffic, etc.

Search volume is the key. If it's a town with 15K people but gets 500 exact searches per month and the name itself gets 15 typeins, you''ll have a big problem making it earn.

Not sure there is a typical/average price as it really depends on what the destination has to offer and how you can make money from it. (unless you're just interested in parking)

I would try and buy something in the drops where the price will just depend on who else noticed it dropping and how much they are prepared to bid at the time.

Seems to have been some very nice old ones dropping lately including TheLakeDistrict(dot)com and Monte-Carlo(dot)com which is in namejet auction at the moment.

What a couple of great names! I wonder how that can even be possible!

Yes, it's all about search volume!

There are other factors and the main other factor is how much the buyer wants it

Fingers crossed I have just brokered a mid $20 k geo org sale which is currently in escrow
