Garbage in - Garbage out! Chips crashing

So, where do we start?!

Well, for the beginners, why don't you have a look at the attached screenshot?

The so called Chinese Premium letter 4L.com are at the lowest for last 90 days and this time no excuse of Chinese new year.

This so called big Chinese investors have zero interest in playing it decent.

After grabbing tens of thousands names at $20-200, they pumped it to 3,000$ then lost interest in it letting it to crash to $1,800$ and counting, they, like bunch of locusts, moved to other asset classes for new pump and dumps, including 2-3-4 L, N .ws, 5L, 7N. They did not care how much they hurt 4L.com chips by starting new rumor of LNQRP being semi-premium (the whole point of premium is not being semi-premium), as long as they could bring some value to first 15 letters they could buyout first, now they need more suckers to grab those unwanted letter domains, about 350,000 remaining and once they'll find them (and they will find them), they'll pump up the prices, sell the premiumer ones they hold (patterns, 15 uber premiums etc.), then the locusts are off to the next field and you can hold your babies.

I sold 2 chips for $4,250 together net here on NP couple of months... And one had r and n. Of course, nobody knew then they were bad...

traffic - it is quite steady and repeats across western prems (vowel, no vowel) and through time... About 15-20 uniques per day per 100 names, about 35-40% US...

I think we're gonna see a short-term bottom at $1,400 to $1,500. If that price brings heavy Chinese buying back in, which I think it could, we've all seen how fast Chips can rise.

If someone put a gun to your head, and asked you, "Will Chips ever hit $3,000 again?" and if you got it wrong you got shot, what would you say? This thought-experiment tests what you really believe in your gut. My answer is "Yes I believe it more likely than not that they will cross $3,000 again."

But just looking at the chart and perceiving the fear that's out here now, I think we're going down some more before we come back up.

I only own one Chip though, so I wouldn't mind being able to snipe a couple more at fearful prices.

Reseller prices are down, but what exactly does that tell you?

Before 2015 how many even bothered with the reseller market for $x,xxx+ sales?

If your portfolio is dependent on the 'type' rather than the 'domain', you're in trouble.

Again? It never got near $3,000 other than double letters, city prefixes in the first place or other unexplainable names/patterns/etc.

This isn't the stock market....

Should we assume .mobi should rise again too?

This play was a get in and get out scheme. Nothing more.

It's so obvious.

I'm a long term holder so i don't care too much what happens in the short game.

Remember there have been huge portfolios change hands. These guys will be buying LLLL.com up if the price drops enough. Everybody on here wants a LLLL.com in their portfolios, so there will always be demand for them.

Supply and demand is key. As more and more LLLL's get developed, are held by domainers, or held by investors, the supply dries up. The demand will increase as new players enter the business wanting short .com's.

According to the chart, it touched $2.5K briefly twice, $3K hasn't happened, you are right.

A bit down again today... Around $1,740...

This chart records approximately 20% of the real/full number of transactions.

Chaomi is not perfect, in fact, quite bad. But this is Chinese thing (chips, hence the name) and Chaomi is the only tool I know tracing it. They also influence a lot trades on NP, as people are trying to buy for Chaomi price minus arbitrage/commissions. Unless you've got another, better, tool, it is what it is...

That chart looks horrible, no other way to look at it.

Tggz.com just sold for 11,500 RMB - $1765.
All ultra premium letters (no LNPQR) and repeating GG and still very a poor sale.

I actually think a rebound could happen soon, but even if a wave up happens I get the felling a lot of damage has been done in recent months and particularly weeks. A lot of investors confidence have been shaken and even some big players have sold out at least a good % of their portfolios already and have moved on.

I also think the lnpqr add on as being sub super premium so to speak has done no good for anyone either.
When the ground rules keep changing during a down market, not the best of ideas IMO.

Interesting times ahead.
I hope all holders do well in the end!

Some here state that they would buy if the prices would fall as investment. I don't know what threshold they mean, but if it is $1000-1500 territory, the only way you'll make money is if the Chip floors pick up. If you will buy them for end user sales, it is bad investment:

a) from my experience, you don't get any more offers or higher prices or higher % of sales than from decent LLLL.coms with vowel(s) or v.
b) why spend $1000 when you can spend $350-500 for the others?

The only ones I'd buy are the ones that make sense to me as an acronym and I have use for it, are pronounceable (because of Y or being consonants of a word, like TRDS = Trades), few other exceptions.

please understand that these are just the lowest prices per day shown in that chart
and it reports only 2 chinese platforms

1. Do you have an alternative tool?
2. Yes, that is the whole point of floor to report the lowest sales. And if those 2 Chinese platforms were below market, they would have been arbitraged long ago, given how well known Chaomi is...

nobody here can predict the bottom next month or next year,
the Chinese investors will move the market up or down

if you have a Chinese portfolio YOU SHOULD always sell part of your portfolio as soon as the market move up, this way you cover your reg fees and get cash to the bank

On the chart, what type of volume is represented? I don't go there because I don't follow it in such a market-like state. I watch the namebio sales, which chipwise, still look decent for this time of year to me...

fncl.com 3,400 USD 2016-03-08 NameJet
cmwk.com 2,180 USD 2016-03-08 NameJet
pbcl.com 2,099 USD 2016-03-08 NameJet
rstr.com 2,001 USD 2016-03-08 NameJet
rslp.com 1,888 USD 2016-03-08 NameJet
bnmd.com 1,880 USD 2016-03-08 NameJet

Meanwhile, back to the chart... out 160,000 chip 4L, what is the volume of sales that is represented in the downward graph trend? 10 names? 100 names? 1,000 names? 10,000 names?

Honestly, don't know the methodology of Chaomi, find it confusing and just on days noticed that you can do 90 day toggle. Would have been even nicer with 180 days/1 year etc.

RSTR is a great domain, by the way -> Restore
