Future EU domains interesting?

This year the EU tld will be introduced. It's open for all EU citizens but till so far it's unclear how much you will pay for it to register. Anybody an idea if this tld will be interest, especially when you keep in mind that all europeans can also register their countries tlds.

I think this will go down well for european businesses that span Europe but I still think that EU citizens will continue to reg their own country TLDs whether thy have a European appeal or not.

I think a lot of names will be reg'd on a 'just in case' theory.

I'd have to agree with bensontwenty here.

I don't think business are going to change to start using the .EU extension, but instead, they will use it in a reserve of their company name.

I honestly can't see much interest being made to this extension. I can see it leading the same line as the extensions .XXX.UK did... And that wasn't much of a trip...

registeration will be somewhere is the region of 5 euros but what registars charge is something diffrent maybe 10/15 euros..... Wont be too dear..

6) How much will it cost to register a .eu domain name ?

In its response to the Call for expressions of interest for the selection of the .eu TLD Registry EURid proposed a registration fee of € 10 (ex. VAT) during the first year of operations. This is the price that will be charged by EURid to the .eu registrars and does not take into account the additional services by the registrar for his customer. Therefore it is estimated that the ultimate retail price charged by the registrars will be higher.

It is EURid's intention to lower the registration fee till € 5 in the second year of operations if the number of registrations (and related revenues) allows such a decrease.

My information was of what I remembered reading afew weeks ago and it wasn't far off... Next time I'll think twice before trying to help... However I did repost the accurate information, only for a petty member to point it out....
