@DAN.COM This was funny! Search for a.com on Dan and you'd find it for sale. Mmm... must grab it immediately :hungry:!
Even more incredible is how someone one-upped Dan.com into believing they are selling d.com :xf.rolleyes: ! And this isn't an Internationalized Domain Name. Don't believe it? Search for it. A screenshot is attached here so it remains in the event the domain is removed. IDN domains have a special symbol that shows next to the name.

This is my first thread here. Let's make it a thread about the truly funny or strange things you've discovered while hunting for domains. It could be Easter eggs, curious domain sales or funny bugs.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I was looking up historical sales on two-letter .coms and it was hard to miss an absolute atrocity. Where was I when this domain was being sold? Why didn't anyone tell me? >:(:banghead:

2011-01-29 on Sedo. Look up its price and please post here what you see.

I'd say it's a crime against humanity. In the words of Jackie Chiles, "It's outrageous, egregious, preposterous!" :xf.eek:

Now, here's something funny. Copy the price you see on NameBio and paste it into Notepad. Tell me what you see again. I've had some bizarre experience when I did this on my laptop. And I had the same issues when I tried it on my phone. Could anyone confirm this issue? O_o

The Dan.com Easter egg, a.com, has now been removed. Also, I will never know how d.com was added and now it has been deleted as well. Unlike a.com this was actually added in a user account along with other regular domains and not a fun prank by Dan.com, but a prank on them!

They now show as deleted domains:
https://dan.com/buy-domain/a.com
https://dan.com/buy-domain/d.com

I wish I could have made an offer in time! :xf.wink:
Previously, a.com page would just open to a blank page with the text "MarbleCake"! See attached image.

Yes, from time to time interesting names get listed. I once came across a domain name for a registrar listed on one of the big 3 marketplaces - it was quickly taken down when I let them know.

I hope that at some point more robust verification methods will prevent all such listings. But good for laugh.

From time to time registrars make me believe I am able to hand register amazing names, but of course they are not truly available.

Thanks for thread.
