"Free Push"

How many times have you seen that phrase from someone selling a domain?........"Free Push"

If the push isn't free, I guess there is a shipping and handling fee? A "push" charge?

You get charged by the character, so it costs more to push a longer domain name than a short one?

I am only having fun and know there is one or two esoteric registers that do charge or make you send faxes, etc.

I just see that phrase a lot and probably have used it one or twice to chum the waters :).......all part of the show!

Paul

PS: Yeah, Saturday night and I am thinking of this.....poor.

I remember on eBay a few years ago, some sellers would charge a $15 "transfer fee" in addition to the winning bid price.

I can see that being legitimate with some ccTLDs (.CA's involve a lot of crap during a transfer, including extensions), but that is ridiculous! I bet that when it came time to "transfer" the domain they always made the buyer use the same registrar so it was just an easy push.

The word "FREE" is probably one of the strongest selling words there is , if you can place it somewhere inside your selling pitch it has an effect
specially on a market like Ebay

"Free Push" seems to be mainly a eBay term, but the term does seem funny to Domainers because they know what is involved with a push.

The word "free" is an absolutely essential term to include in any pitch of a domain ;)

Right you are and that "fee" had nothing to do with any Registrar charges.

The fee was pure profit as the Seller did not have to include that fee in Ebay's final value fee.

If the domain sold for a penny, Ebay got nothing but the Seller got the fake
"transfer fee".

Some Sellers would bury that fee at the bottom of their auction to try and trick you.

I went through that once or twice.

After Ebay started receiving complaints about the bogus fee, you don't
see it any more.

At least I haven't and I always check now.
