Correct.. all you have to do is agree to hook up the router and become part of the Fonera network.

Please note that to become a Fonero, you need to convert your existing Internet connection into a FON Access Point.

Once your FON Access Point is properly installed and registered, you will be able to share your WiFi with the rest of the FON Community and choose what you want, either free WiFi roaming worldwide or revenue generated by your FON Access Point.

Not as far as I know.. I think it just allows you and others to access the Net thru your connection.. you become an access point in the Fon network and get revenue for that access. They do say that if you don't use it to please give it to someone who will.

You can check this by going to the checkout and then choosing your country from the menu at the bottom of the page. Selecting the UK brings the same Router up at £29.99 - no freebie here!

I tried to enter the promo code in the uk version and it doesn't exist. USA get all the good free stuff. lol. i might move there...

Are you sure your invoice didn't show a "-" in front of the amount? The invoice they send looks a little confusing but there's no charge. The invoice shows "-$29.95". There should be a followup email as well. Worked fine for me.

I find this very interesting I like the idea but I do have some concerns with it.

By being part of the FON community you are sharing your connection with other members, as this is how it works. The problem comes if someone access your point to abuse the net say send thousands of Spam messages your ISP more then like will hold you responsible for their actions.

I would use this with great caution.

Just be aware opening your internet to public access may violate your ISP's TOS.. best to check before you actually use it. Would be great for a business to get and offer WiFi access to customers.. gonna see if Arby's might be interested in this one.
