But then you have to pay the register fee for the domain at godaddy and to be honest, who actually registers names for more than 1 year? Unless you've got massive development plans, or it's an amazing name, which happens so rarely :/

Surely they could just reg the name for one year at the registrar of their choice and save 6 weeks of waiting? ;/

Register.com used to have a $200 transfer fee. Do not know if they still do.
